Within the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet the residents of Dupont, WA.  Corey Feldon, a Realtor with Keller Williams and I made it our mission to gather as much information about Dupont.  This information has been valuable not only to us, but to our clients looking to make Dupont their home. Growing up on military bases, it's easy for me to feel at home in Dupont.  The streets and common areas are kept prestine.  There are no signs of vandalism or neglect.  At first glance, it looks as if it is a neighborhood full of homeowners who take great pride in their town.  By meeting and talking to individual homeowners, it has become clear to me that it couldn't be closer to the truth. Dupont is a hotspot for military families.  Not only is it close to post, it is far enough...

Construction on the new Steilacoom School District Pioneer Middle School in Dupont started February 2007. The $23.6 million dollar project is right on schedule for the school to open in the fall of 2008.The new school will be more than three times the size of the old Pioneer Middle School in Steilacoom. The 104,240-square-foot building will sit on a 20-acre site and will boast 18 general classrooms, six science classrooms, a stage/drama classroom, three project team areas, a project team lab, music/band and art rooms, a food lab, two technology labs and much more.   The new school promises to be a great and much needed addition to the Dupont community. For more information visit here:http://www.kjmassoc.com/docs/news/shsd/pioneer/exec_summary/JUN07%20New%20Pioneer%20MS%...

To many people the two terms "Northwest Landing" and "Dupont" are confusing, as they are freely interchanged. Why then are there two names? Here's a little history on the two communities which have essentially become one:The quaint city of Dupont started as a company town with over one hundred houses, a butcher shop and a hotel, built by explosives manufacturer E.I du Pont de Nemours Co. in 1906. The residents were allowed to purchase their homes in 1951, at which time the city was incorporated.  The City of Dupont is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Weyerhauser lumber company purchased the area west of Dupont, and in the late 1990s has begun construction on "Northwest Landing", a 3,000-acre planned community, expected to have approximately 12,000 residents by 2010....

When it comes to Location-Location-Location, the city of Dupont is the right place to be. Its convenient location to Ft. Lewis, its location right off Interstate-5 and its location right on Puget Sound, with views of Mt. Rainier and the Olympic Mountains make this a truly desirable place to live. I guess that would also explain that despite a 1.05% decline of residential home values throughout the rest of Pierce County, Dupont home values actually increased almost 5% in 2007.                   The average Dupont home appreciation in the past four years was 48%, or an average annual 12%.  I've invested in a home in Dupont in 2003. I bought it back then for $169,000 (this price seems almost obscene now) and could now sell it (if I were crazy) for $269,000.       Sandy NelsonRealtor for Ol...

The city of DuPont, Washington is located on the I-5 corridor, halfway between the cities of Tacoma and Olympia, and adjacent from the Fort Lewis military installation. The original village of Dupont, next to the Northwest Landing development, was originally housing for Dupont munitions factory workers. The Weyerhauser Company purchased the 3200 acre site after the Dupont Powder Works closed and started to develop the area into the Northwest Landing planned community. The development consists of five villages, a town center, commercial areas, as well as a multitude of parks, open spaces and trails. Large companies, like State Farm Insurance, and Intel Corp. have located to Northwest Landing. The town's "Main Street" area has attracted many small businesses, restaurants and two hotels.Wha...
