Spring cleaning Tip #3 Selling a house in DuPont, Washington is all about first impressions and showing off all those features. That being said, what about that back-up generator you spent six thousand dollars on. When I walk a client around a house and see a pile of containers block a super feature of your house, oh no. In just a half an hour you can clean this area up and add thousands to the appeal of your home. Don’t let the clutter take over your investment and distract from the special features that can sell your home. This picture depicts containers gone wild. Decide how many five gallon buckets you will ever need and give the others away. The recycle bins can be returned to the garbage or recycling contractor. That said, what about that mowing curb you spent close to a thousand dollars on a couple of years ago. When I drive up to a house and see a well defined edge to a lawn I appreciate the pride in ownership, the home owner has displayed. Don't let the moss take over your investment. If you own a pressure washer in less than an hour you can clean up that mowing edge and make it look like new. If you don't own a pressure washer you can rent one from a rental mart or hardware store in some cases. Spring cleaning Tip #1 One of my pet peeves and easy cleaning projects is cleaning those outside light fixtures. Most are full of bugs and entangled in spider webs. It only takes 10 minutes to clean out the mess, wash the glass, and check the bulb. If you’re using the new energy efficient bulbs you might want to check that it is working. I noticed mine were only lighting up part way and while I was cleaning why not change the bulb now. How efficient is a bulb that’s not working at 100%. Now that you’ve cleaned those cob webs, you don’t look like you ready for Halloween. Don't skip the small easy tasks! Getting the word out! For those of you that remember Ft Lewis or McChord Air Force Base, you are really showing your age. As of 2/01/2010, the new title is Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Joint Base Lewis-McChord has begun its history as of 10 a.m. Monday the 1st of February when Col. Thomas H. Brittain cases the colors of Fort Lewis’ U.S. Army Garrison and unfurls those of the Joint Base Garrison. Brittain and Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew D. Barnes performed the ceremony at JBLM Headquarters, Building 1010, at the intersection of Liggett and Kaufman avenues. The new joint-base headquarters will over watch an intersection that links approaches to North Fort, now called JBLM North, main post, now JBLM Main, and the DuPont Gate. It is very simple why most of my clients chose DuPont over other areas, small town atmosphere vs. urban sprawl. The town of DuPont is not new by any means.  It started as a company town with just a few houses, a butcher shop and a hotel, built by explosives manufacturer E.I du Pont de Nemours Co. in 1906 to house the workers at the explosives plant. The workers bought their homes in 1951, at which time the town was incorporated. In the early 1990s a vision for a new DuPont Washington was in the planning stages. In 1994 the first development broke ground of what would be called NW Landing. The planners wanted a small town atmosphere with tree-lined streets and distinctive Craftsman-style architecture.
