All winter I have driven by the Edgewood Fruit Stand. And every time I drove by I would notice that their sign said "See you in the Spring". I was starting to get worried that perhaps it wasn't going to reopen. Especially since Sterino's closed. But then today, as I drove past, I noticed that the sign had been updated! It now says "Open May 16th." Yeah. And they will have some free giveaways. This is a great local fruit stand that features local farm grown fruits and vegetables. I'm looking forward to the fresh Pink Lady apples, strawberries, blueberries, corn, and squash. The fruit stand is located on Meridian Avenue across the street from the Edgewood Flower Farm. Be sure to stop by to support this local business.

Edgewood Flower Farm is now open! But you'd better hurry- if you didn't pre-order, quantities are limited. They are open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9:30am to 5:00pm.  This farm, that has been open in Edgewood, WA since 1954, has the most gorgeous flower baskets! They are colorful, huge, healthy and have well thought out flower mixes. They have double begonias, impatiens, supertunias, and many more. For more information, including directions to Edgewood and pricing, visit their website. It is www.edgewoodflowerfarm.com. But I recommend seeing them in person. :)

"The city of Edgewood could soon [temporarily] prohibit building new housing units in four zoning districts"This was the lead-in for a story in the local Milton-Edgewood Signal today.  The Edgewood City Council will meet next week to vote on a moratorium on new housing in the MR-2, MUR, Commercial and the Town Center zoning districts [along the Meridian / SR161 Corridor that runs through Edgewood]. The next council meeting is scheduled for Sept 25 at 7:00 pm.

Several builders with inventory in the City of Edgewood have many homes still on the market that have been completed for over a year.  Buyers should be aware that if at all possible, Builders must receive a price very very close to their "asking" or "listing" price.  This is important, allowing them to maintain their financial borrowing power ... keeping them in business and helping appreciation of property values for your new home.I've recently received notices of $30,000 Buyer incentives that Buyers may spend in any way that is allowed by the lender.  Usually this may be applied to closing costs, loan points, or upgrades to the home.  This equates to about a 5% price reduction that does not reflect on the contracted sales price. When negotiating the purchase of a new home, consider ask...

Last Tuesday the Edgewood City Council agreed that the Edgewood Planning Commission should review land use along the new City Center portion of the Meridian corridor.  The Council's concern isthere is more proposed residential development occurring where some commercial uses were envisioned and desired.I expect this to be added to the Planning Commission's agenda and invite interested parties to attend and comment at any future meeting.  The City Council and Planning Commission meeting schedules are available to the public at http://www.ci.edgewood.wa.us/ Additionally, a change to the land use map is currently under consideration that will eventually allow commercial development along Edgewood's eastern boundary at West Valley Hwy/Hwy 167.

Last Monday (July 30th) numerous property owners voiced support for the rezone of property along West Valley Hwy from residential to commercial use.  Most of those that spoke were not included in the ten parcels current being considered by the Planning Commission and they voiced their desire for inclusion.  No members of the public spoke against the considered change in land use.Anyone wishing to be included in the current planning map modifications should submit their written request to the City of Edgewood.  In addition, they may find it in their best interest to personally address the Planning Commission and the City Council during a regular meeting (schedule at http://ci.edgewood.wa.us/).  Even if the land use change is not on the agenda, citezens are still provided the opportunity ...
