This weekend my plan is to get out and take pictures of Marysville for our website. It has been awhile since I made a neighborhood or park page and with all the recent Google updates time is primed to get back to work on the basics, content is king. The page I am focusing my efforts on is the Marysville real estate page that has been in the works for about a year and a half but I am happy that it is finally taking shape. So far there are only a portion of the neighborhoods listed and some are wondering if adding all that extra information is going to really bring in the business. I keep telling them that it is a step in the right direction and if we want to continue to have great placement on the SEs then more and more content needs to be added. It would be nice if I had a partner in th...

I know everyone hears on the news that the prices of homes is going down all over the country.  The media has a very convincing way of using statistics to sway the publics perception of what is happening.  While some other areas of the country are seeing slight price corrections, this is not necessarily the truth here in the Northwest. When the news reports show that the average home sold for less money than previously, they are using the average home sale price.  They do not take into account the actual home prices of similar homes.Let me explain how this can be incorrect.  Say for example that last month 5 homes sold.one at 150Kone at 250Kone at 350Kone at 450Kone at 550KThat is an average of $330,000 per homeThis month we have also sold 5 homesone at 200Kone at 275Ktwo at 310Kone at 3...

Bayview Ridge is located on the Eastside of Marysville next to the Cedarcrest Golf Course. The neighborhood was built in 88-89 and features large lot sizes, ramblers and two stories, wide streets and some exceptional views. The homes in Bayview Ridge are well kept and have landscaping that is reaching a beautiful maturity. One of my favorite homes lies at the top of 77th St NE (featured below) and it has the most spectacular view of the Puget Sound, Everett and even the Cascades from certain areas. Bayview has many beautiful homes with gorgeous landscaping that is well kept. During the holiday season, the home owner decorate with elaborate Christmas lights and displays.Being located next to Cedarcrest Golf Course, Bayview Ridge residents get the benefit of a golf course community but wit...

Marysville's Comeford Park is one of the cities oldest parks and it named after our great city found James P. Comford. It is home to the Ken Baxter Center that is used by the community to host events, where Barnett Associates Real Estate held our Hurricane Katrina Relief Fundraiser, the historical Marysville Water Tower and children's play area. The park encompasses one square block so there is plenty of room to through a football and have a picnic with a large group. Being located on State Street, and boarding 5th & 6th, it is very convenient for people that close to town. During the summer time the park plays host to many farmer style markets and other events, like concerts, which are all family orientated. The picture below was taken in February of 2006 facing the Ken Baxter Center a...

There is a myth going around that some of you might have heard; it is always raining and clowdy in Washington. Today is a gorgeous day with perfectly blue sky, no clouds and not a breadth of wind in the air. Everything is visible and this morning I was treated to a spectacular view of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. The Cascades are my favorite mountain range, probably because I grew up skiing, hiking, dirt bike riding and camping in them, and on my way in to the office this morning I snapped a sweet shot of Marysville, the marina, Ebey Slough, the foothills (Bayview Ridge is visible), Three Fingers, Glacier Peak and Mount Pilchuck. The picture is really a testament to the type of living that is Snohomish County. It never ceases to amaze me how breadth taki...

Snohomish County and especially Marysville, Arlington and Smokey Point are seeing some great companies move into the area. The top three new businesses are Costco, Target and Koles. It is amazing to have these nice companies right in our towns especially since we are a residentail community.Costco, target and Koles provide more than just a wide selection of goods; they are now local so our residents don't have to travel miles to get to these stores. No more trying to beat the traffic, no more waiting through moster lines, no more waiting through the mess of people to get the products you so desire.I love having these stores here. It makes my life easier and I'm sure there are others that feel the same way. Besides bringing tons of goods into our town these stores provide a large amount ...

The media likes to hype up information in order to get people to read and listen to the head lines. The housing bubble has made every website, blog site and newspaper at one time or another. And from my own position, I have seen web traffic and search term number decrease from the norm. But does that mean there is a pop in the housing bubble or a housing bubble at all? My answer is a firm no.Builders, lenders, title and escrow agents have come into my office and one of the first questions is “have you noticed slowing down?”. My answer stays pretty consistent, yes, it has slowed down but it is relatively speaking. The phones have calmed and internet inquiries are down but that doesn’t mean transaction and deals are any less prevalent in our office. That leads me to believe that the housin...

Growing up in Marysville, my friend and I would map out our Halloween plan on which neighborhoods would yield the most loot, candy. Being a residential town there are many neighborhoods to choose from because some are better than others, candy wise.Bayview Ridge - Bayview is a neighborhood made up of 700+ homes and is located on the Eastside of Cedarcrest Golf Course. it has wide streets and lights so families and children can feel safe from speeding cars and creepy people. It is also a neighborhood known for handing out "big" candy bars, an added bonus for any trick-or-treator.Kellogg Marsh - Kellogg is a neighborhood comprised of 500+ homes that boarders 67th, 88th street and Kellogg Marsh Elementary (my sister-in-law teaches 2nd grade their). It also has wide streets and lights for s...

Marysville "The Strawberry City" is a town located just outside the heart of the main cities. According to legend, James Comford, original founder, named the city Marysville after his wife Maria. The city started as a trading post and logging camp and didn't receive the nickname "The Strawberry City" until the Roaring Twenties. Since the early years, Marysville has developed into a nice residential community complete with distinct neighborhoods, parks and cult-ti-sacks. Traveling through the different neighborhoods you can find kids playing basketball outside and children racing around on the bicycles. Having kids around really makes Marysville feel like home. During Christmas season, Marysville is one of the best cities to travel through and look at the Christmas lights. With the "heal...

How to make Your REALTOR Get You the Best Deal by Jodi Brown, Karen Villa Schweinfurth and Ken DeshaiesThis book is an easy to understand, informative, first time buyers guide to real estate process. It is written in large font and has quotes before each section from past clients. The book is broken down into four seperate sections: The Home-Buying Process: A Brief History, A New Law for the People, Let's Get Started and Getting Your Home. From the very beginning the book felt like it was written for someone that never went through the process before. As such, it covered a lot of areas someone would probably not think about when starting their research. It refreshed my memory as much as pointing out areas that I tend not to think about. The Home-Buying Process: A Brief HistoryHere the au...

In this day an age, boarder security is as big topic for the legislatures as it is for us average citizens. With all the heightened security a passport will become mandatory in 2008 to travel from Washington into British Columbia. In years past, Washingtonians were highly accustomed to driving to the boarder crossing and getting into Canada. All it took was too show your ID/Washington State Drivers License and answering a few questions regarding purpose of visit (pleasure/business), duration of stay (usually a few days), my story was this "my buddy's and I are going to look at girls, drink till we puke and sleep in the truck in some dark ally", and if there were any guns, alcohol and how much tobacco was in the vehicle. If you could answer these questions without have sweat bead up on y...

Just a minute ago, I was talking to the guys at Marysville Everett Ceramic Tile and they shared a picture they found of Marysville from 1950. I immediately asked if I could borrow and went next door to my office and scanned the picture. In the picture you can see the block we are on, 2nd street, second from the right, and the rest of the city. During those times there wasn't a lot of action around here. At the bottom of the picture, where the green belt is, that is the current location of I-5. So much has changed and it makes me wanna dig up so old pictures of Marysville. The image is linked to the file so you can click it to get a better view. The orginal is 3400x2200 so you can get a pretty good view of the city.

He just maybe the third generation Barnett to run the company. I love family!! There is no one harder and more enjoyable to work for IMO.

Reported on CNN.com there was article published, Next hot Market...Think Washington. Out of the Top 10, Washington received 5/10 of the top spots. The first being Mount Vernon.Mount Vernon is bustling area that is conducive to development. Having open lands which are relatively priced, Mount Vernon is going to the fastest growth area in Western Washington. The articles discusses why Washington is such a hot market. Driven by economical growth (Microsoft and Boeing's rapid highering) and low interest rates real estate still continues to be a hot topic here. As the nation seen a housing market decrease, Snohomish County, is seeing a dramatic increase in rentals rates to increase property management business (fueled by rental demand) and leveling off of housing prices to continue purchases...

Community living is far different than living in a home. Apartments and Condos have appeal that individual homes can not offer. I live in downtown Kirkland and in an apartment, yes I rent because I cannot afford to by in my area of choice yet, there are people that are in my demographical group. It makes it very nice because everyone is in a similar time of their lives and interests are also very similar, friends and fun.Community living also has allows people to live in the city where a person doesn’t need to use an automobile to get around. From my place I can walk to the gym, grocery store, the lake, friends place, Starbucks, restaurants and even the clubs/bars. Cab rides are only 3-4 bucks and Wendy's is open late. But there are some disadvantages to community living like barking do...
