Renton and Kent homeowners are hugely multi cultural. The people who live in south Puget Sound come from all over the world. My friend and great client Sam Susan (from Romania originally) teaches ESL in Kent and there are over 80 languages native to the school district. And Renton Schools are just as diverse. Do you remember the guy who traveled around doing the silly dance and then put it on youtube. Well Matt just spent 14 month all over the world. View his latest production and see if you know someone who has bought a Renton home that came one of the places that Matt danced with the folks. I enjoy living in a community where I have friends who have lived all over the world. I learn great new things about other cultures every day. Every day, I get hits on my website www.RentonHomeFind...

You have probably noticed that Duvall Avenue is now closed between Sunset Blvd. NE and SE 95th Way. This closure is scheduled to remain in force for approximately one year. To minimize the road closure's impact on your daily commute, you can take advantage of a shortcut by turning left on SR 900 from Duvall and then right on Union. Head South on Union to SE 95th Way and turn left when you get to Duvall. Most drivers are not aware of the fact that the closure has not affected the bridge. Improvements will include widening the road to five lanes, including a two-way left-turn lane in the center; overhead power lines being converted to underground lines in anticipation of added safety during storms and emergencies; a new traffic signal at Duvall Ave. N. and NE 21st St.; new gutters; new bi...

Renton Police responded to a collision that Julianna Hind and I from the Renton Keller Williams office witnessed on Sunset.  And the cops are great!! Julianna and I were going to a home inspection when a guy in a big Ford pickup turned left and smashed into the front of a one ton Ford truck! KABOOM!!! Headon collision, big crash, steam, dirt, debris. Both trucks totaled.  Right in front of us.  So my 30 years of police training and experience kicks in and I'm on the phone to 911 and heading up to the "vehicles".  When I get up to the guy in the pickup that caused the wreck, there is the cut and bump on his head from hitting the windshield and then I see the steering wheel is bent. Can you say, "no seatbelt worn".   I tell him that I'm calling 911 just sit still and relax.  He says, "don...

Posted by David Edwards under For Buyers, For Sellers, Regional - West, Local Events Calendar, Regional News, Renton With the coming of spring the days get longer, the air gets warmer, the birds begin to sing. As you look around, you see many changes taking place but the most stunning transformation has to be in the plants. Almost magically, barren branches start to bud, brown grass turns green, and tiny little shoots push up through the soil; and with the changing of the season, we close another chapter of events that have come to define winters in the Pacific Northwest. Nonetheless, when one door closes, another opens and with that, we are given an opportunity to enjoy the vast array of springtime activities that are also unique to our region. If you are looking for things to do in Re...

Renton - As Fresh as it Gets!   It is hard to explain and equally hard to deny: fruits, berries and vegetables that come directly to the table from the farm are somehow different - they're more colorful, they're crisper and sweeter, they just seem better. The only problem is in finding farm-fresh produce.   The farmers' market in Renton can help to solve that problem. Starting in early June, fans of freshness can visit the Piazza in Renton, a beautiful park and worthy destination in its own right, and brows the stalls to stock up on fresh favorites.   The Piazza is a small urban oasis, a perfect gathering place for folks who live or work in  the downtown area. Located at South 3rd and Burnett, the Piazza in Renton is home to a number of community events throughout the year.   The Farmer...

I’d like to welcome Julianna Hind to the Keller Williams Renton Team. Julianna comes to our team with over 5 years of experience in the Real Estate industry as a Professional Stager. She is ready to take her career to the next level – and is a natural fit for our company. The process of buying a Renton home is very different from the process of selling a Renton home, but they both happily end the same way -- with Moving Day. I remember the time one of my best clients called in the middle of the night (after 10:00 pm) and had blown his ankle while making the last load into the rental truck. So off I go, we finish loading at the old house (him hobbling and me trying to keep a straight face), drive to the new home in Enumclaw and get there where the sidewalks are rolled up at 2:30 am. Park the truck, hop in the car and head home. This is the easy way to move, except for the ankle of course. Looking back it was a hilarious situation, just not then. Choosing a moving company is the often-hurried "last step" that buyers and seller view as a hassle. Because it'...

Duvall Avenue is expected to close between SR 900 (Sunset Blvd.NE) and SE 95th Way starting in June, and remain closed for approximately a year. Hi all: Up here in the Seattle area, things are still a little slow on the mortgage scene although I'm fielding more inquiries about purchases lately. I believe people are coming out of hibernation up here and it should be a good summer. I'd like to see more buyers get off the fence as it's a wonderful time to purchase a home. There is at least 6 months worth of inventory up here and prices have barely moved in the last year. Coupled with very good interest rates (30 year fixed at 5.875% O.A.C.), it's an excellent time to buy if you're in the market. I expect that trend to continue for the next few months. After that, it's anyone's guess. In the Seattle area. we've been largely immune to the brunt of the mortgage crisis that has hit other parts of the country hard. Part of that is becau...

Posted by David Edwards under For Buyers, Regional - West, Regional News, Renton Highlands The repair work started today on the damaged entrance facade located on the NWC of Duvall and NE 6th (close to most of your homes). The wiring has been mounted on a temporary panel until the facade is rebuilt in the next day or two.  After that, the plan is to hopefully install all of the electrical into steel boxes that will be securely mounted on the back of each facade. Hopefully this will better protect all the metal and wiring from future vandalism and/or metal thieves.  While this construction work is underway, the HOA Board asks each of you living nearby to please keep an extra eye/ear out, especially at night, for anyone that might find anything in this area enticing - if you see/hear ANYT...

Red Mill Annexation threatens proposed City of FairwoodThe City of Renton has authorized circulation of a 60% annexation petition that targets the commercial core of the proposed City of Fairwood. (See map)The petition is not to registered voters. The petition seeks signatures of 60% of the assessed value from the land owners within the annexation area. The petition method of annexation is not one-person-one-vote, but instead weighs each signature by the assessed value of the property. As few as eight signatures, mostly from out of the Fairwood area, could be sufficient for this petition. If the annexation succeeds, the matter of whether the proposed City of Fairwood should be established will have been decided (in the negative), without a vote of the people of Fairwood.69.6% of the asses...

Hello from the great Northwest! It probably wasn't more than 3 months ago that I attended a seminar co-sponsored by Genworth Financial and Washington Mutual. Wa. Mu. assured all of us brokers that wholesale was here to stay and was actually quite profitable. Fast forward to today and Washington Mutual announced that they are exiting the wholesale loan business, closing all of their home loan centers, and originating loans exclusively through their retail branches. How far the mighty have fallen.Nor only do I have friends who work for Wa. Mu. but my company had a significant number of loans placed with Wa. Mu. the last few years. I think Washington Mutual is a class outfit and I'm pulling for their survival. I remember when they were a much smaller Northwest only bank. Now who knows. The...

Yesterday, my wonderful client and I are in Renton Highlands Briarwood looking at homes. We find a neat one, spend some time inside, lock it up. My client says, "I really like this house". Off we go to look at a few more. I jump in the BMW (old but not that old) and the battery is dead. I am trying not to swear! Battery is good, not sure what's up. Look over at my client who says, "I guess we can look at this house some more." Unlock the keybox, back inside and I call a friend for a jump. Fourty five minutes later we are back on the road on the way to my house in Ashburn to get my wife's car. By now we are hungry, so we grab the wife, the client and eat lunch at Bills Bodacious BBQ in Renton Highlands. Look at some more houses and....... GUESS WHAT!!!! Lo and behold, God or the car knew...
