Even on these cold December days, a walk in the park is nice. Just getting out, stretching the legs, and breathing some fresh air can be a nice break in your day. Last week I did just that at Hazel Dell Park. As someone who was raised in Southern California, I truly appreciate parks like Hazel Dell Park. The reason: trees! Lots of them!!! Even though I have lived in the Northwest for 11 years, I am still in awe of the evergreen trees in this area. Hazel Dell Park is smack dab in the middle of town but still exudes a forest. Walking the short hiking trail, I enjoyed the switchbacks through the trees and thought about how lucky I am not to be living in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles anymore. And since I'm raising my children here in the Northwest, I want them to appreciate what they...

What to wear to work?  This is a topic that is always coming up.  I just watched Oprah a few days ago, and an entire episode was devoted to this topic.  It disscussed dressing appropriately for your career, and the, "do's" and "don'ts."  What about the saying, "dress to impress?"  How accurate is that statement?  A study by Karl, Peluchette,  and Rust, states, "There appears to be a strong belief that such behavior has a positive impact on workplace outcomes and emotions.  By manipulating their attire, individuals believed that they could influence other's views, achieve greater power and influence, and obtain work-related outcomes, such as advancement or compensation increases.  Respondents also indicated that, when using their clothing to impress others, they experienced positive work...

Alright, I don't normally have to head into Portland, OR first thing in the morning but last Thursday I found myself doing just that. Let me say... we need a new bridge! What under normal circumstances would be a 15 minute drive from my house was almost a hour and twenty minutes. I'd say this exceeds an acceptable level of service. For those of you who make this drive daily, my hats are off to you. You deserve a medal. I called a friend of mine to let him know I'd called the Vatican and nominated him for sainthood as he makes this drive everyday of every week. I don't know how he does it. I know that the problem is being addressed, and I'll be curious to see what is decided. You can follow along with some of the potential options here. It will not be inexpensive and it will not be easy,...

Fall is in the air and the streets are covered with gold in Fisher's Landing right now. Today I was driving through Fisher's Landing showing houses and found the area to be most beautiful. The fall colors are in full swing and the leaves are falling fast. The windstorm and rain these past few days certainly helped this process out. It is amazing how quickly things change around here. While we are in Fisher's Landing let's talk about the Year-To-Date numbers for this great neighborhood. As of the end of September the Average Sale Price is $314,300 and the Median Sale Price is $300,000. The average days on the market is running around 50 days. We are still seeing Fisher's Landing appreciate at a rate of 5.2%. This chart shows the Year-To-Date single family residential activity. A total of ...

That's what this thing is. You probably have wondered as I have what they are building across Hwy 14 as you pass by Fort Vancouver. This is a natural path 40' wide crossing which will reconnect the Fort to our waterfront.Back in the day you used to be able to walk from one to the other and as growth has happened this link was broken. Now this link is being rebuilt. This will hopefully provide a renewed appreciation of our long history with our very own Fort Vancouver and the Hudson's Bay Trading Company. Our waterfront has become a great place to enjoy wonderful food, incredible views and even a little excercise. Now that trail becomes just a little bit longer.Through the efforts of Confluence Project members, the National Park Service, the City of Vancouver and the Washington State De...

I have had some great feedback when properties are staged.  By staged, I mean the place looks like a model home. I think it makes a huge difference when you are showing a home.  When a place is staged, I've noticed feedback is usually very positive.  People get ideas for decorating it, as if it were their own place.  It also can show them how to use unusual spaces, that may be questioned if it weren't for the staging.  Every little thing can make a huge difference, from having the pantry organized to having a plant on a shelf.  Just thought I would share some little advice, that makes a huge difference.

Hello,I just wanted to share with you about my trip to New York. I went to NYC for the first time a little while back.  I had such a great experience.  I love to travel, so any new place is a fun place!  I have to say it was better than I expected.  I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked, so I think I need to plan another trip back.  I mainly spent my time in Times Square and the shopping areas around that.  It was a little overwhelming how much stuff there was to see, but I enjoyed every minute of it! Next time I would love to see some shows on broadway and ground zero.  Any ideas for some shows? Here's a picture of me downtown by Nasdaq, enjoy!

Vancouver / Camas Washington Real Estate "Blue Moon" Season to Move Up an Opinion by ClarkCountyExpert.com Vancouver, Camas and Felida Washington real estate news, as in other parts of the country finds the local media reporting fear and angst in the real estate industry. However, in our opinion this is a once in a "Blue Moon" season to make one of the best real estate moves... According to Wikipedia, from the Maine Farmers Almanac a Blue Moon is an infrequent but periodic event where instead of the typical 3 Full Moons in a Calendar quarter, there are 4 Full Moons. The third full moon in a four-full-moon quarter is tagged as the "Blue Moon." In 2007 there was a Blue Moon on May 31st. For real estate in Vancouver / Camas, Washington, we think the Blue Moon is right now. Here's why: In ...

I wanted to invite you to our church this Sunday at 10:30 AM; we will be having a very special guest speaker. Ron Heagy has spoken to over 3,000,000 people and just recently spoke to several large Disney conventions and this weekend is speaking at a NIKE event. He loves sharing his story with churches of all sizes and he is excited to be at our church this weekend. Ron is quadriplegic and his story is amazing. I've been told that his sharing will take you on an incredible ride from tears to laughter. Many people who have heard Ron speak have said that he is the best speaker they have ever heard.  My mom actually has had this privilege and she would agree with that.Ron is so inspiring that I want to encourage you to invite anyone that is going through some tough times, who may need a lau...

A Bright Spot in the Media for Washington Real Estate regarding the Mortgage Market, Foreclosures, and comments on the Sub-Prime Lending Market As in other parts of the country, the local media has reported many stories on the "crisis" in the real estate industry and the "melt-down" of the sub-prime mortgage market. Indeed, there have been impacts to many mortgage firms, and real estate agents working with borrowers requiring a sub-prime loan; including impacts to some of our clients. However, as some of the "media fog" is starting to clear, we are getting a better picture of what is happening in the the Washington State scene, and to the sub-prime market nation-wide. From the Seattle Times September 15th article, some important perspectives must be recognized when trying to understand...
