Cadott, Wisconsin, Historical Trading Post, 45th parallel, & Forestry Field office           I have been spending a lot of time in our Cadott office this month, doing some forestry work and some property management work.     I thought it might be nice to give the folks in active rain land a taste of Cadott this week as well.   Many like to think of Cadott as the little town that boasts of its location "half way between the equator and the north pole", I prefer to think of its namesake, the early French fur trader who started a trading post on the yellow river just north of town, close to my tree farm and office.     Michel Cadotte was a French and Indian fur trader from Sault Ste. Another Exciting Country Fest Started Today Near Cadott Wisconsin Nick our Forester who runs the Cadott office of Woodland Management Service tells me that the roads are packed with campers and other vehicles filled with excited Country Music Fans. Hopefully every will have a safe and fun filled weekend. Cadott Country Fest, the event that puts Cadott on the map! Since we opened our office North of Cadott 25 years ago we have been impressed with the population explosion of this little town during the last week of June. It starts with a convoy of dedicated RV's heading north out of town on hwy 27 all heading for a former farm which has since been converted into the largest concert destination in the region. The music can be heard by all of the locals with a never ending bass beat that reminds everyone that people up the road are having a great time, celebrities are visiting our little town, and many businesses are getting their annual influx of cash to supplement them for another year of sleepy rural life. Nick generally covers most of the projects out of our Cadott office of Woodland Management Service but this week I will be working over here while he handles a few projects at our Stevens Point office.
