There have been many mentions and remembrances today of that horrible event 8 years ago.  At our Wiscionsin Realtors Convention, we had a moment of silence. At our CRS luncheon there was a moment of slience. I am sure most people were remembering those lost on that tragic day, lost in 3 different places, New York, Washington DC & Shanksville, PA.  I chose to remember and pray for those that were "left behind".  Those that perished that day have found eternal peace, and those left behind have not.  Many children were left mother or fatherless.  Spouses were left single, some to raise children, some wives to raise a child that was to be born in the next few months.  I thought of them Also in my thoughts were those that survived, but barely.....   You might not think there would be ethnic traditions that are tied to the first day of school, but the Germans have it covered!  School:  A Sweet Start....On the child's first ever day of school, tradition has it in Germany, that the mother would make a tute (two-tah) and fill it with treats for the child.  It was meant to sweeten the bitter pill of the first day of school, when life begins in earnest!  Like many things, this custom has become commercialized, with tutes being sold in stores ...some of them are huge and measure up to 3 or 4 feet tall, sometimes as big as the child! Sunday evenings in Tree Tops is usually a pretty quiet and peaceful time, but not this weekend...Early Sunday evening, July 25th, Flight For Life, landed in Tree Tops Park.  Arriving to pick up an injured cyclist, the med flight landed right in the middle of Tree Tops Subdivision, while neighbors, police and firefighters stood by.                                     According to local news http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/51775892.html, a 12 year old rode his bike through a stop sign and was hit by an oncoming car.  From the time the cyclist was hit, the number of onlookers grew.       The 4th of July Parade in Germantown was the first time the Shorewest Firetruck has been seen in the area...Available to help put out fires for buyers and sellers, and rescue deals, Pat Tasker was able to meet and greet with many local residents in the parade this year.  Driven by Shorewest President Joe Horning, and accompanied by his two sons, and my friend Emily Ryan we had a blast handing out frisbees and tatoos during the local parade. We got some good news this week, when it comes to the housing market!  The number of homes that went PENDING  has seen an increase!  That means the market is starting to move... That means offers are coming in and being accepted, in some cases, it means multiple offers!  We haven't seen that in quite awhile. The spring market is heating up, and Germantown is no different!  I have recently sold 4 Germantown properties.   The buyers are a good representation of the current market.  Two were first time buyers who will benefit from the tax credit currently being offered.  One young couple bought a very nice ranch on Hawthorne, just off division.  They will be getting married soon, and hope to raise a family there!     Another single gal who grew up in Germantown bought a condo that was a foreclosure on Windsor Court.  She has some minor decorating and cleaning to do, but got a great unit to start building her personal wealth.   The condo/single family home I sold on Preserve Parkway has new owners  who transferred from Idaho.  The convenience of a condo regarding lawn work and exterior maintena... 06/02/2009

Today,almost 400 Wisconsin Realtors marched to Madison to meet with their Legislators. They voiced their opinions and concerns on a wide range of issues that affect the American Dream.  Those topics included a proposed 50% hike in our capital gains tax (from 40% to 60%), property taxes impact on housing affordability, and a proposal giving assessors the ability to enter onto private property with no notice required, no limits on when, how long or the frequency of their visit!  So while most days, Realtors spend their day Selling the American Dream, today many Wisconsin REaltors worked on Protecting the American Dream.   The day concluded with an address from Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, and his views on the state economy and ways to bring it back.  Of course he agreed that housing was ... 04/08/2009

  This past Saturday the 21st of March, Shorewest Realtors sponsored a food drive that brought in a Hummer full of food!  Thanks goes to the Pick N Save store and their management for allowing us to set up collection spots at the entrances for 6 hours that day.    Charlene from the food pantry was excited to see all the donations which included over $100 in cash.  She was happy to see an entire box full of toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, toilet paper, baby wipes and diapers. Often times these personal care items don't come to mind for donations to a food drive, but they are really in need.
