Sixty years of holiday fun in Sister Bay, Wisconsin!  The Sister Bay Lion's Club 60th Annual Halloween Party was a declared a huge success.  According to long-time Sister Bay Lion's Club member Clint Robison, this year's event, held at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove South Station on Mill Road, attracted roughly 160 children from 18 months to perhaps 13 years old along with lots of their parent.  With only 2800 residents of all ages (approximately) in Liberty Grove and Sister Bay combined, the attendance numbers are amazing.  The evening starts each year with a costume parade, and ends with games and prizes for all.  Looing for a place in Sister Bay to call home?  Click here.  Here's to another 60 years of safe Halloween fun; thank you, Sister Bay Lion's Club!

Gearing up for Labor Day Weekend and Sister Bay's MARINAFEST.  Another great reason to visit Door County this weekend!  I'll be showing property all day Saturday, but the festivities continue into the night.  This is an excellent chance to promote and sponsor our exceptional Sister Bay/Liberty Grove volunteer Fire Department, who host the majority of the event, with a day and evening of food, music and water events.  If you’re a boater, or enjoy a day on the water, spend Saturday of Labor Day weekend at Marina Fest. This weekend in Door County--the World-Famous Sister Bay Bowl.  While I'm Irish and I'm sure to be enjoying some of the weekend's local festivities, it's a good time to mention the Sister Bay Bowl--because by the time May comes, there won't be a ten minute wait on the weekends.  There will be a two hour wait.  Also, I owe a friend dinner, and I am sure this will be the restaurant of choice this weekend because the food is fantastic.  Friday, locally caught perch delivered by Maricque's.  Saturday, excellent prime rib. The Bowl spent a good part of the last year being written up by national periodicals and getting a lot of great press, because it's the last of a dying breed.  It's an old-fashioned bowling alley with a supper club attached, a great wait staff, and some of the friendliest ...

One of Door County's best-known visitor attractions is Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant, in Sister Bay, Wisconsin.  Al Johnson's is a family-owned establishment, serving authentic Swedish cuisine.  The restaurant has a sod roof and goats can occasionally be seen grazing on top of the building!  Inside, the decor is warm and inviting, even remarkably authentic.  The foyer reminds me of a restaurant I visited some years ago on the shores of Sweden's Lake Vattern. My personal favorite is the Swedish pancakes, with whipped cream and strawberries.  The ample menu also includes Swedish meatballs, Broiled Norwegian Salmon, cold plates, limpa bread, lingonberries, pickled herring and pickled beets, Door County whitefish and Lake Michigan perch.  Meals are served by waitresses in authentic Swed...
