Welcome Back UWSP Students 2018-19  Old Main, Like a bit of Harvard in Wisconsin  Old main is the oldest building on campus and always reminds me of our roots dating back nearly 120 years to when Stevens Point was selected as a Normal school or teaching college.  Old main reminds me of the Harvard campus with old buildings that are hard to photograph due to a plentitude of large dense trees.  These trees came in handy 30+ years ago when I had Dendrology class at UWSP and many of the trees that we had to identify from across the nation were only found on the lawn in front of this building.  Now these trees enhance the beauty of this fine old building which is now used as the executive office building for folks like the Chancellor.More Welcome Back to Uwsp Tour Posts     Check out the new...

Welcome Back UWSP Students to the 2018-19 School YearWelcome back to the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, school starts this week and the town is buzzing with activity.  I have seen several groups heading down to Belts for a welcome ice cream break with old and new friends, and today many houses had yard parties as people gathered to reacquaint with old friends and meet a few more before the busy life of classes begins. For those who do not have housing secured, we have a few more homes available we just finished cleaning and repairs on.  And if anyone needs a couch or other misc. furniture, I seem to be developing a collection in one of my garages that I would like to get rid of soon.Jack and I took a walk around campus today and took a few pics of the buildings, people and art...

Welcome Back UWSP Students 2017 - Communication Arts Center  This is the Communication Arts Center, which not only houses the UWSP Pointer Newspaper (where I used to write a very long time ago), the campus radio station and TV studio, but it also graduates many fine communication students every year.  Comm degrees come with an emphasis in several areas including Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Media, and Interpersonal/organizational.  There of course are many distinguished graduates of this college including Bob Crane (Forester) and Terry Porter (NBA player and coach) I hope you enjoyed our series on UWSP (the rest of the series is listed below), when considering off campus housing I hope that you will give us a call to see what we can do to help find a nice home for you.  More Welc...

Welcome Back UWSP Students 2017 - Relax, Study or Dine at the DUC  When I was at UWSP this was known as the UC or University center, but more recently somebody thought it would be a good idea to put a very attractive addition on the front with several stores and of course let the current students pay a pile of extra cash.  Along with this new addition, came a new name, it is now known as the Lee Sherman Dreyfuss University Center, at first this was shortened to the LSD-UC, but someone thought that it might look a little strange to have LSD in the name of the new addition so it was shortened a little more to the DUC or "duck", which is an ok name for a university center with so many wildlife majors around.  This is a great place to spend some time, great for meetings, relaxing, eating lu...
