How Bad Is It......Gas Gauge                      How bad is it to drive your car when the gas guage is on empty?   If you are miles from the nearest gas station, don't stress.  Your car won't clonk out the second the low fuel light flashes.  Gas gauges are notoriously inaccurate.  In some models, you could drive 40 miles on an "empty" tank.  If you are worried about it causing mechanical problems, fear not.  Most cars built in the last ten years shouldn't be affected, even if you are driving on just a dribble of gas.  Even so, it is not safe to habitually coast on fumes.  After all, who wants to get stranded in the middle of the road?   BOTTOM LINE:  NOT SO BAD!

How Bad Is It.....Candles                      How bad is it to let a candle burn to the very bottom?    You want to get the most out of that pretty glass enclosed pillar, but the less wax in the jar, the more likely the flame is to brush against the side and the bottom.  And, if the glass gets hot enough, it could shatter.  Even worse, without enough wax as a buffer, the flame could ignite debris, like a  match that has been left in the candle, which could cause a blaze to flare up.    Candles cause nearly 10,000 house fires a year.  So, avoid risking it by tossing glass-in candles once the wax drops below half an inch.  Throw out all other kinds of candles when they get shorter than two inches.   BOTTOM LINE:  SUPER BAD!

For the last week or so, whenever I post a blog to Activerain, when I got to share it on Facebook, the only photo that pulls from the content is my three cats.  I do not have a scroll button to choose which other photos from the content of the post or from my signature or whatever, and the hide photo thumbnail is also gone.  Anyone else have this happen to them?    Although I love my kitty cats, it doesn't look very professional to have my three cats photo show up on a blog post about a municipality on Facebook.  I still want the blog content to be shared on Facebook, and with no other option available to me any longer, I have just been sharing it with the cat photo and making a comment about it in the verbage section...but this is far from ideal.   Anyone have any ideas?  Kerrie is ass...

A growing number of coffee brands like Starbucks are rolling out light-roast brews.  These coffee blends are labeled "blonde" because the beans have spent less time in the roaster to coax out flavors more gently and make a lighter, less bitter-tasting drink with the same amount of caffeine.  The companies claim that the beans' natural sweetness nixes the need for milk and sugar.   Some folks are pleasantly surprised by the smooth, mellow flavor as well.  They note zero bitter bite and the same rich mouthful as darker coffees.  Have you tried a blonde coffee?  What is your verdict?

I am hoping some of my pals here on ActiveRain can assist me on this....I received an email saying that I could Get a custom URL for my Google+ profile. This lets you easily point folks to your profile (no more long URLs!).  They sent me a URL that they reserved for me.  Has anyone done this?  I know initially it is free, but they said that they reserve the right to take the URL back at a future time.  It certainly is easier to remember/point to than the one I have now by default.  I welcome any comments, from those who have done this, or are contemplating it.   Thanks folks! - See more at: http://activerain.com/blogsview/4235230/google-custom-url-s-good-idea-or-no-#sthash.NopSSul0.dpuf

My mother in law emailed this to me, and I thought I would share.....                                                           A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door. It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him. Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days. "Jack,...

Here are some interesting Cucumber facts:     Cucumbers can be picked at any stage, from gherkin size to full size.   Harvest Season.  Cucumbers come on strong in the heat of midsummer.  With regular picking, vines will continue to produce through early fall as well.   How you know it's ripe. The spiny, bumpy skin of a small cuke smooths out.  However, small cukes are crisper and less seedy, great for eating and pickling.  At their peak, most varieties are about 2 inches in diameter and 5-8 inches long.   Test Garden Tip. It's best to err on the immature side, as cucumbers can turn from just right to overripe overnight.  Refrigerate for up to a week.  - See more at: http://activerain.com/blogsview/4214955/did-you-know-cucumbers-#sthash.8b6MjAGF.dpuf
