Béla Fleck, The Solo Concert, will be performing at Carnegie Hall Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Auditorium.  Just in case you aren’t familiar with Béla Fleck, he’s one of the world’s premier banjo players. If you are familiar with Béla, you know that he just loves to play the banjo, and put it into unique settings.   Béla Fleck became fascinated by bluegrass music during his youth in New York City. He began to play banjo when he was 15 years old, inspired by the music of guitarist-singer Lester Flatt and banjoist Earl Scruggs—the performers of the theme so...

My North Carolina buyer had accepted a job as a Clerk Repoter in Lewisburg, WV.  When I met Ms. Buyer she first thought she would buy a house. We looked, but to no avail as she had dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. Oh yes and a daughter. She decided to rent a place and yes she did find a landlord who would rent to her and her daughter as well as all her pets. Since we couldn't find the right home for all of them, Ms. Buyer decided to buy land and build.  We found 2.40 acres on Arbuckle Lane only 2 miles from the courthouse where she worked. Sold price was $37,000.   This property offers a country setting while only being a few miles from everything great about Lewisburg! Beautiful pastoral and mountain views with some amazing sunsets! Located one mile from RT 219 on Arbuckle Lane Road.    ...

Have you ever known a woman and wonder where in the heck does she get all that energy.  Well, that is my broker, Martha Hilton.  She is like Wonder Woman! Always on the move and going, going, going, like the energizer bunny.  When you are around Martha you feel the energy and want to be energectic. But, at my age sometimes it takes me longer to get energized!   Martha has a caring, loving,  spirit. I know if I needed her support or help, she would be there in a heartbeat. Martha is a member of the Lewisburg Rotary and is a past president. She is known to help anyone in need. I remember one day we were out looking at property and she saw a man she knew walking to town.  She said, "I've got to stop and give him a ride into town, he is nice. Do you mind?"  Martha is like that every minute ...

I lived and worked in the Washington DC Metropolitan area for 35 years. I lived mostly in the Northern Virginia area..... Alexandria, Arlington, McLean, and Annandale Virginia.  When I had decided to retire, my husband suggested we move back to our roots... West Virginia.  I am absolutely so happy living here in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Yes it is small compared to Northern Virginia. The population is about 4400. We don't have the large malls, department stores, large specialty food stores like Macy's, Trader Joe's, etc.  The really nice thing about going to the local stores, shopping or going to the office is that it is only a 3-5 minute drive. Love it!   This weekend was Lewisburg's Holiday Festival.  On Saturday, the kids enjoyed Breakfast With Santa, a benefit for Court Appointed Sp...

Today is Veteran's Day, and I am thankful for all who have served our country and protected our freedoms.    Veterans Day is a day to remember and honor those who have served.  They give up so much for protecting our country. I am so grateful to know about my husband's two great uncles, Julien Gaujot and Antoine “Tony” Gaujot. The two brothers were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. It is indeed an honor to be a part of this family and to acknowledge two great men who served our country...   The Medal of Honor is the United States of America's highest and most prestigious personal military decoration that may be awarded to recognize U.S. military service members who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. The medal is normally awarded by the President of the United States...
