Today a customer whose house we just sold took me to lunch. For me, that is rare probably  because I am not a warm cuddly person and maybe a little standoffish. We sat outside in the shade (90 degrees in San Jose today) and casually enjoyed 2 hours of just talking. It was really pleasant. When I returned to the office my Processor got off the elevator as I was entering and she had a gallon plastic bag filled with lettuce. I had never seen that before and I asked what that was about. She told me that another customer whose house we also just sold brought it to her and that there was a bag on my desk for me. That is a first and I thought it was humorous. After I thought about if for a few minutes I decided to send both customers a really nice genuine thank you note. The lunch was special an...

It is quite amazing at the transformation of the eagle as it ages!    It take approximately 5 years for a Bald Eagle to reach it's definitive plumage from a 6 month old brown juvenile..5-2.5 years - they are Cark with mottled feathers, black beak3.5-4.5 years - their head and tail feathers begin turning white, beak turns yellowat 5 years and past - the Bald Eagle is fully developed with a white head, yellow beak and sharp gaze - a true symbol of strength and freedom! What a beauty these birds are in their natural habitat.   Barr Lake outside of Brighton Colorado, you will find many Bald Eagles and nests with babies.   I was using my phone and getting as close as I could, so photo turned out a bit blurry.   This Eagle obviously is older than 5 years.

March Challenge #4 Strength Behind My Success: A Tribute to My Husband For over 40 years, my husband has been my greatest supporter, my rock, and my unwavering source of encouragement. We met at The Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA while we both happened to be attending a Surrealistic Film Festival. When I saw him totally immersed in a particular painting in the lobby while all attendees were waiting for the doors to open to the theatre, I spontaneously asked him what it was about that piece of art that had fully captured his attention. And the rest is history, as they say. As a reminder, we now have a framed print of that same painting hanging in our home. And from the beginning of our loving journey together, he believed in me. Through every stage of life, whether it was raising our two...

There is a Biblical saying "Guard your heart". Now many folks think that means to never fall in love. They are wrong. In Biblical times your heart was also a reference to the thoughts in your mind. To guard one's heart meant to avoid negative input. Avoid negative TV shows. Avoid negative movies. Avoid negative music. Avoid negative people (I know - that may mean losing 30% of your contacts on your phone. LOL). Most importantly, focus on what is good and what is right and let that be predominant in your thoughts.

We are shaped by people and experiences throughout our lives. In the March ActiveRain challenge hosted by Lew Corcoran and Patricia Faeger, we are asked to share the profound impact someone had on you in shaping you into who you are today.I am the way I am largely due to how My Parents Shaped Who I Am Today, they set a strong foundation.I am not only shaped by the powerful foundation and strength my parents built but by the loving support from my son during the "Dark Night of the Soul" experience with stage 3 breast cancer", I am also shaped by people I trusted who did me wrong. The people who teach and remind me of who I do not want to be must be mentioned as part of this challenge. The experiences are positively life-altering.   I Know Where The Bodies Are Buried To put this into cont...

Long time ago, I learned to use a feather instead of a stick when it came to beating myself up over something. Pretty soon I threw away the feather. Why? Now, I am open to reason and change without the persuaders LOL.  When you are wrong, in error or prisoner of your ignorance that causes a mistake well, say so. It comes across better than anything else you can try.WORTHY NOTE: The Three Stooges: "I'm a victim of circumstances" doesn't workLAUGH and then LAUGH AGAINIf you fail at something, welcome to the learning curve. Assess what tripped you up, rise, and then dust yourself off. Choose a direction and instruct your feet to take a step that way. Have a chuckle or two and begin again when you are already. Have still another laugh if you can, this time, at yourselfSOMETIMES THEY STAND ...

“You don’t find love. It finds you. It’s got to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars.” – Anaïs NinYou knew I was going to save the best for last, as my final entry into this month's Challenge hosted by Patricia Feager and Lew Corcoran, didn't you? I was 29 when I met my late husband, Max. By then, I’d heard it more than once: “You’re too picky. You’ll never get married.”  That always puzzled me. Isn’t choosing a life partner exactly when you should be choosy? The truth is, I wasn’t even looking for a husband. I was doing just fine as a single woman. I had a good job, bought my first house, and my best friend became my roommate, paying half the mortgage and utilities. We were in a softball league, a bowling league, and we traveled on weekends and during vacation time. L...

In north Texas, we are finally enjoying some beautiful, Spring weather. After the threat of that last frost, I go into high gear getting my raised vegetable beds ready for some new plantings. The abundance of a Spring garden does not happen without a lot of pre-planning, hard work, and dedication. Can you spot my cute little wiener dog, Scout, in this picture? He is always nearby when I am out in my "She Shed" and in my garden. He usually barks at my, "Lady of the Garden" statue just to let her know who is in charge. Cracks me up every time.Anyway, the beds have been cleaned up, new organic soil has been added, fertilizer - which for me comes in the form of good, homemade compost with eggshells, coffee grounds, and many other common household food discards. This is added throughout the w...

We know the obvious answer to the post title hinted at question i.e. we lie to gain, capture, preventative action or it is just plain easier & accessible to do this using & telling a lie. It is also amazing as to the speed a lie can travel when invoked or unleashed to do so. It has to be fast to not only get it over with (the circumstances for the lie) but to by-pass & ignore the natural, given without the asking, built-in, protective warning prompt i.e. from the ConscienceBEFORE the LIEWhen we speak about lying, cheating, stealing & all the rest, we often don't spend time on what happened before the "lie" choice was made. Was it spontaneous or planned? When did we allow this ancient evil to join us & why? In the post process, we find that the lie did its best work beforehand. Telling t...

This quote from Maya Angelou stopped me in my tracks today:“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present…Gratefully.”In a world that feels increasingly divided, where anger, fear, and a refusal to accept the will of others seem to dominate, I find myself asking, how did we get here? And yet, Maya’s words offer a gentle but powerful reminder. We can’t change the past, but we can choose to release its grip through forgiveness. We can’t control the future, but we can move toward it with humility and hope. It's about seeking wisdom, not control. Most of all, we can choose to anchor ourselves in the present moment, with gratitude. Gratitude doesn’t ignore the challenges; it gives us pers...

This marks my fourth entry in the March ActiveRain Challenge, hosted by Patricia Feager and Lew Corcoran where we’re highlighting the individuals who’ve inspired us to become who we are today. One name that stands out for me is Floyd Wickman; a mentor and coach whose teachings left a lasting imprint on my real estate career.Back in 1998 and 1999, our Northwest Coldwell Banker office offered us a 6-week Floyd Wickman course. It was described as one of the most effective, results-driven group programs in the real estate industry, built specifically to help agents and recruiters reach their goals. And it absolutely delivered. The training we received was invaluable. So much so that Geno and I took the course both years, convinced of the power and importance of what we were learning. We were...

This post is in response to the ActiveRain March Challenge: Sharing The Gift of Who You Are, thanks to Patricia Feager and Lew Corcoran.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I am second generation American. My grandparents on both sides of my family came to America in the early 1900’s from Ukraine. They migrated because life was very hard back there, and I grew up hearing stories of how they settled in and raised my parents in and around the Philadelphia area.My father’s parents moved around a bit after they were married. My grandfather would purchase farms at auction. He would sell things from his farms in the city, as a huckster, using a horse and wagon as transport his goods for sale. His last far...
