Every year on June 6th, and this year on Friday June 6, 2025, we celebrate the Happy National D_Day, and honoring those brave soldiers fought started on June 6, 1944 on the beaches of Normandy France, and today we celebrate the D-Day 80th anniversary commemoration of Normandy invasion. This important historical day is a reminder of Allied forces troops staged one of the most excellent attacks against Germany during World War II.I want to wish everyone at ActiveRain Community and people everywhere a Happy National D-Day.

For my second dream purchase from the ActiveRain Point Store, I’m going big, really big, Alaska big: with a 2026 Oceania Culinary Cruise featuring celebrity chefs (because I love to cook high end meals) and exclusive food-focused experiences. Oceania has announced four of these specialty voyages for 2026, and the Alaska (where my wife & I got engaged) itinerary immediately caught my attention. It’s the perfect blend of natural wonder and gourmet indulgence. This isn’t your typical cruise buffet. We're talking world-renowned chefs, interactive culinary programming, and hosted shore excursions that bring you up close to both the land and the local cuisine. We’d cruise through places like Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Hubbard Glacier, savoring Alaska’s pristine beauty while attending onboard...

Sandpoint Realty 'Thursday Thought' brings forth an issue we are more and more seeing, in my opinion. In my humble opinion, taking responsibility for our own actions and their consequences, seems to be drifting further away from the norm.  It is always someone else to blame, or something that happened. In truth it all boils down to our decisions 99% of the time.Make it a great day North Idaho.  Enjoy the hot weather coming in and be safe, stay healthy!  'Experience the Difference' in working with a full time Professional Sandpoint Realty REALTOR® Your wants and needs will always be my priorities.  Mark Don McInnesBroker - Owner208 255-6227SandpointNorthIdaho.com - North Idaho Home & Land SearchesSandpoint Realty LLC1205 Highway 2Sandpoint, Idaho 83864

Deconstruction is essentially a careful process of dismantling a building, rather than just demolishing it. It involves taking apart a structure piece by piece, in the reverse order of how it was built. This method allows valuable materials to be salvaged and reused, which not only reduces waste but also preserves some of the architectural history of the building. Deconstruction can apply to entire homes or specific parts, offering a great way to recover materials rather than sending them to the landfill. A real estate agent can play a significant role in facilitating deconstruction by informing clients about the benefits and process involved. They can guide homeowners on how to connect with deconstruction services, like Second Chance, and help them understand the potential tax savings ...

I guess my age qualifies me to be a Reverse Mortgage Lender. Being 77 I now meet a lot of older people; guess that is natural. I did not know that I have so many short videos about the RM loan by this morning I checked and I have 29 on YouTube. The one below names some of the erroneous beliefs that I have heard people say about the loan. If you are interested here is a Play List of the 29 videos. (I need to go through these and check them. There may be a couple that are not about Reverse Mortgages. When you go to the video it will show other videos as well.Reverse Mortgage Play List https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGvrK0myIwj9vR5wejcGtWs9Ap8M0v5dB

With Points in Hand, Another AR June 2025 Challenge Entry I feel fortunate.  In numerous ways.  As for the ActiveRain platform, I have accumulated a lot of points. I guess there may be those who say my membership and participation has been rewarded. Maybe, too frequently and/or too much. And I agree. But what has occurred here didn't happen overnight or effortlessly.     I believe there is a responsibility for those who rank higher on the leaderboard with more points. Any discussion about the subject can prove additional examination may be necessary.   Perhaps, akin to extensive comparison shopping, right? And it's an ongoing conversation as I have experienced many times over the years.   As for giving away or gifting points I remain uncommitted to doing so. After all, they are my poin...

For years, I have dreamed of standing hand in hand with my wife while I have a cigar under a sky streaked with green, purple, and blue lights dancing across the horizon. Iceland, in my opinion is the original home of the Northern Lights and untouched natural beauty, which calls to me. And with 711,692 ActiveRain points in my pocket (fictional or not), why not turn that dream into a reality?Yes, I know that I can see the lights elsewhere, but this is my dream, remember?Imagine this: A week-long escape to Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital, where the blend of natural wonder and modern charm creates a truly magical experience. We’d fly roundtrip from the U.S. (approx. $1,200 per person) totaling $2,400. Upon arrival, we’d settle into a cozy and stylish boutique hotel downtown for seven nights ($...

This is my fictitious/wild imaginary entry for the ActiveRain June Challenge hosted by Debe and Anna. I would like to bid 200,000 points for a leisure cruise on the Dolly Steamboat. Since the real Dolly will be turning 99 soon, there’s no time to put off an opportunity like this into the future! I want to meet Dolly! She sounds like a woman who can spin great stories for her guests aboard the Dolly Steamboat. Plus, I want to do it for three main reasons: I don't know how much more steam I have, so there's no time to lose! I want to experience a fabulous AR Meetup! I just have to see AR Members in person and not on Zoom! This would be a GREAT way to see all the old familiar faces and fresh new one (or older faces than what I see in profiles)! I confess, I don't look like my profile anymo...

Did Anyone Say a Store??? The Mother Ship is Calling Me!!! The timing couldn’t be better for this June Challenge!  For years, I’ve collected recipes that I’ve wanted to try.  Some were from the cooking classes I took at Williams-Sonoma in Reston, VA. There are recipes from Will Hamm and other ActiveRain members I want to try. Whether you cook for one or your whole family, the hardest thing is deciding what to cook every night!  It’s easy to get in a rut.  Earlier this year, I set a (loose) goal of once a week or so, preparing a new recipe or one I had not made in years.  For example, I must have a dozen different recipes for spaghetti carbonara, but have never made it!  Thirty-plus years ago, I made homemade gnocchi. It was good, but for some reason, I never made it again.  I enjoy cook...

Some Houses Are DeceivingThe exterior photos, below, of 6240 Woodcrest Ave, Cheswolde, showcase an all-stone home complemented by a sleek Terne tin roof. The extensive use of hand-cut stone adds a unique charm, with custom patios and walkways thoughtfully crafted to blend seamlessly with the land's natural contours.    In addition to the bamboo, the use of custom, hand-cut stone selected from a local quarry adds an exquisite touch to the overall design. The natural textures and colors of the stone beautifully complement the vibrant greens of the bamboo, enhancing the serene atmosphere. Every piece has been carefully chosen to ensure it fits seamlessly into the landscape.     The backyard is a true private oasis, thoughtfully designed to provide a tranquil retreat. Yesterday I posted a video I did years ago; 10 Facts about the Reverse Mortgage Loan. Today's information is about the Reverse Mortgage Second Mortgage Loan.  In Silicon Valley many homeowners have a lot of equity and a low rate first mortgage so they do not want to lose the first mortgage rate therefore it is financially wiser to get the second mortgage loan rather than a Reverse Mortgage First Mortgage which requires paying off the existing first mortgage loan. The FAQ's below are from Finance of America Reverse Mortgage Loans Frequently Asked QuestionsHow is a HomeSafe Second reverse mortgage different from a traditional homeequity line of credit (HELOC)?A reverse second mortgage offers greater flexibility in repayment - no monthly mortgage payments are required. You must continue to ...

Is It Better To Rent or Buy a Home in Miami-Dade, Florida? You’ve probably asked yourself lately: Is it even worth trying to buy a home right now? With high home prices and stubborn mortgage rates, renting can seem like the safer choice right now. Or maybe your only choice. That’s a very real feeling. And perhaps buying today isn’t your best move; it’s not for everyone right away. You should only buy a home when you’re ready and able to do it, and if the timing is right for you.But here’s the thing you need to know about renting. While it may feel like a safer bet today – and in some areas might even be less expensive month-to-month than owning – it can cost you more over time.In fact, a recent Bank of America survey found that 70% of aspiring homeowners worry about what long-term renting ...
