We make hundreds of choices per day without keeping count which end up defining our lives as we have instructed. Stop and consider this. The day, event, situation or task goes as we have commanded either by acts of omission or commission. For a short time we call "life", we can command situations & outcomes. The good results as well as the not so good. Each person creates their own personal reality, loss or reward.LESS IS MOREBecause trial and error get to have its way with us relentlessly, we all have been given something to make the journey have more of a reward to it instead of remaining a learning curve all the time. I am speaking of common sense and our ability to reason, logic & intuition and consider using less effort for more gainSINKING IN THINKINGNot thinking too much which is...

Every year, our Coldwell Banker Thanksgiving luncheon is a cherished reminder of what makes our office truly special: the sense of camaraderie, gratitude, and teamwork that binds us together. It’s more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of who we are as a family of professionals. The turkey, brisket, tea, is provided by the office and all the incredible sides and desserts are brought by our agents to make a feast that never fails to impress. But this year’s luncheon was especially poignant. This Thanksgiving was bittersweet as we celebrated amidst a significant change—our fearless leader, teresa recar left our company after 12 years. She not only guided us as our Broker but also shaped much of the culture we hold dear. Her new role as Senior VP of Marketing at a title company is a fant...

Cleaning out my engineering office cube I found old technology:  a Sony Discman, floppy disks of various sizes, a card for dial up access numbers while on business trips.  In our basement is a Betamax VCR and a VHS player, and a box full of old laptops, cables, connectors, and other peripheral equipment.  Debris, junk, or historical artifacts depending on one's viewpoint. Here in the Rain we've seen a lot of changes in the 18+ years we've been here.  Leadership and ownership have changed more than once, and while visibility from management isn't what it once was, I know there's someone out there still keeping the lights on (Thanks Ben!). Sometimes ActiveRain still has glitches, but I'm a pragmatist and recognize that most of today's hiccups are in the category of "First World problems".I...

Destin Florida Real Estate- Deadlines MatterGetting ready to purchase or sell property around Destin Florida? One thing you will notice on our contract is a timeline for pretty much every key event. Let's take a look at why sticking to deadlines is important for both buyer and seller. 1) The agreement is a binding contract between both parties--Each moves forward planning their next life chapter with the assumption that the other party (most times who they do not know) will stick to the agreement. 2) Home Transactions normally travel in packs-- A buyer typically also has a home to sell, and vice versa for the seller. Thus, one deal becomes the foundation for multiple transaction sides. We refer to this in the industry as a "closing train". Guess what happens when one train car derails??...

Debe Maxwell kicked off November with a Gratitude Challenge. Our goal is to write one gratitude post per week during the month. Unfortunately I missed week number one and number three, so this is my second and final gratitude related post. My first post was about gratitude for our grandchildren. I struggled coming up with just one thing to write about, so this post is about my gratitude for everything that comes my way. For example: FamilyI already shared how wonderful it is to have grandchildren. But I am grateful for all who are now my family. My wonderful husband. We met later in life through the magic of the Internet and I can truly say he is my adventure partner and best friend. My two sons are amazing and have turned into productive and fun adults. My two stepsons who are also fun...

Totally mindless, random blog of the day......I wanted to write something this morning.  I was in the writing mood, in need of self-expression.What do I write about?  Interest rates?  Inspections?  Contracts? Bleckh! So I thought:  Why not just randomly post some mindless topic, throw it up against the wall, and see if it sticks? So here goes:It was a dark and stormy night..............Just kidding. But then I thought - what is one of my favorites things to talk about?I got it!  FOOD!  I mean, after all, I'm Italian so it's in my DNA.  (Literally)And since we're approaching that day where everyone completely stuffs their face, over-eats to shameful levels, and then picks their teeth at the table, how conveniently appropriate than to talk about food!I eat primarily a plant based diet.  So n...

As Thanksgiving Day Approaches Thoughts on Here, There and Perhaps Anywhere ActiveRain November 2024 Challenge Number Four                Happy Thanksgiving Week. Earlier this month, I saw the movie “Here”.  For those who follow my posts, I once again thank you. However, this isn’t a film review, per se, although I will say I enjoyed it. By the way, the movie brings together Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in the Robert Zemeckis-directed film who was behind the camera for Forrest Gump which they both starred. Okay, next scene. . .   Over the river and through the woods may be a well-known image for some holiday gatherings. However, this Southern California native never experienced it in person except for a couple of years spent living on the East Coast.             My remembrance growing ...

On this Thanksgiving Day, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. This year, I’m reminded just how much I have to be thankful for: the unwavering support of family and friends, a career that brings me joy and fulfillment, the gift of good health, and the privilege of calling this wonderfully weird and wacky city of Austin my home.Thanksgiving isn’t just about the meal on the table—it’s about the love, laughter, and gratitude we share around it. From my family to yours, I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with warmth and happiness, where every moment reminds you of the blessings in your life.Whether your table is surrounded by loved ones near and far, or shared in spirit with cherished memories, I hope it’s overflowing with love, hope, and gratitude. As Steve Maraboli so beautifully remind...

A bunch of people, for whatever reason, decide to board a ship for unknown lands. They hope for the best but were immediately introduced to the worse. Sick sickness, scurvy, cold, poor diets, cramped quarters, lack of exercise, hopelessness and despair all visit in quantity. At some point, and after agonizing months on end, they sight land, and the rest is this Holiday we are celebrating today i.e. Thanksgiving WELCOME Life is an amazing dynamic all of its own. No two people live it exactly alike only similar in nature. We all have a unique story to tell, and it unfolds as we do only ending when we exit. Be conscious of the fact that your little journey can mean something more than you can imagine. Your being here matters! COLD & HUNGRY What a strange meeting must have taken place. Peo...

As one ages, the human body also ages in many ways that are unexplained. One day one awakens and there is an ache that wasn’t present the day before. Maybe one takes a step and suddenly there is twinge to excruciating pain traveling from the ankle to the thigh.Thankfully, even with COVID, both my husband and I avoided that corona respiratory virus. Neither one of us opted for the vaccine as we lacked faith in its development, nor did we have existing lung/respiratory issues. Maybe drinking from the water hose or common drinking fountains, playing in dirt and mud, cleaning out chicken coops and even shoveling horse manure may have contributed to my avoiding COVID .With my mother’s mother (Mor Mor) living to 103 and my father’s mother (Far Mor) living to 84, I believe some of my good heal...
