Check on your friends and family who got hit by BerylThis is just a friendly post to check in on your friends and family in the Houston and Surrounding areas.  Hurricane Beryl was a Category 1 storm that did a lot of damage.  There were very strong wind gust that took down lost of trees and power lines in the N Houston areas including Conroe, Willis, Huntsville, Livingston, etc.  Other areas were hit as well, Katy, Pearland, Sugarland, and all the way to the coast.  At least 14 people died in this storm and there are lots of people that have no running water, no electricity, no generators, etc.  The hotels are booked, and some hotels are price gouging.  Sometimes it is after a storm when people need the most help, especially our elderly population.  My parents have a generator but their...

Browder Ridge Has Outstanding Cascade And Wildflower Views The little known Browder Ridge hike is an alternative to the well known Iron Mountain hike many take during wildflower season. Iron Mountain is located off Hwy 20 near Tombstone Summit. The easiest access to Browder Ridge Trail is near the Iron Mountain trailhead a few miles up paved forest service road 15.The first few miles of the hike are in forested old growth with a lot of shade; ferns, rhododendrons, and various shade-loving ground cover plants are evident in this section of the hike.     Once hikers leave the woods, they can be surprised to find themselves in a sloped hillside filled with acres and acres of ferns and wildflowers, many of which exceed 3 to 4 feet. The path winds it way up this hillside, with sections of i...

There are so many hiking options in and around the Flathead County Montana area that there is no way to experience them all! In Glacier National Park alone, there are 162 trails. There are an additional 35 miles of trails available in Jewel Basin, and over 2,200 miles of trails in the Flathead National Forest. Those are only a few of the options available! The Great Bear Wilderness Area is part of the Flathead National Forest, and is located in the Essex Montana area. While nearby Glacier National Park trails do not allow dogs, Flathead Forest has no similar rules. So last week my husband and I and our dog Hercules were lucky enough to be able to experience the Stanton Lake Trail which is about 15 miles east of the West Glacier entrance to the park.As far as trails go, this was a relativ...

What a fantastic way to wrap up our July 4th celebrations in Canyon Creek! We kicked off the holiday with our annual HOA Holiday Bike Parade, and it was a blast. It's always heartwarming to see the kids gather at Canyon Creek Elementary School parking lot, enthusiastically decorating their bikes in patriotic colors and themes. This year, the parade was filled with a delightful array of creatively decorated bikes, participants in colorful costumes, and spirited cheerleaders from Noel Grisham Middle School and Westwood High School. It truly showcased the community spirit and camaraderie that defines Canyon Creek. After the parade, everyone gathered at Trail Head Park where Konia Ice was on hand to provide refreshing treats, marking the perfect way to cool off and enjoy the festivities with...

There is a book about the history of McRae AR.  Inside I found the picture above from so many years ago and was fascinated to see the way it used to look.  Notice the businesses around it.  I wrote a blog about it.  Click              read the blog.  The blog  has more pictures and even mentions bank robbers!  Go check it and then come back. Wasn't that fun!!  Such interesting history. Sadly, the buildings keep declining as the present picture below shows. But thanks to First Security Bank, it remains open!!

Embracing Community: Celebrating Alabama Rural Ministries’ New ChapterAs a dedicated realtor and active community member, I was thrilled to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Alabama Rural Ministries (ARM). Founded in 1998 by Lisa Pierce, ARM began as a pilot project through the University of West Alabama Wesley Foundation and Auburn University. With a mission to support families with limited incomes in rural areas and create meaningful missional encounters, ARM has grown significantly over the years.Initially, ARM focused on home repair projects, such as roof repairs and wheelchair ramp installations. In 2001, the organization launched the Sonshine Kids Day Camp to provide summer enrichment for local children. Today, ARM serves multiple counties, including Macon, Lee, Russell, and ...

Have you ever received a notice from the IRS claiming you owe taxes but are certain there’s been a mistake? Maybe you believe the IRS has assessed the wrong amount, or there’s an error in your tax return. In such situations, you might consider submitting a “Doubt-as-to-Liability” Offer in Compromise (OIC-DATL). Let’s dive into what this means and when it’s appropriate to use this option. What is a Doubt-as-to-Liability Offer?A Doubt-as-to-Liability Offer in Compromise is a proposal you can submit to the IRS when you genuinely believe you don’t owe the tax debt in question. This type of offer asserts that there is a legitimate dispute over the accuracy of the assessed tax liability. The goal is to settle your tax debt for less than the full amount based on evidence that demonstrates you a...

I met Chloe Jacobs at our neighborhood’s Literary Guild event. One of my neighbors and friends hosted the event at her home. She is a very well-known organist. She even played the organ in Israel. She is one amazing accomplished world-cultured woman and I am so blessed to know her. She is well into her 80’s and I pray she will remain with us for years to come. Her husband turned their garage into her organ room and opened it up to the living room so that an audience can enjoy a full organ with the pipes and all. It is an amazing site to see and to experience the depth of the sound from that organ. Tuesdays Treasures…Hurricanes, Generators, Tornadoes  Friends, Family, and Coffee  There is always something to be grateful for…even during a hurricane. Those of us along the coast of Texas have been watching Beryl’s track even before she hit Jamaica. Would she hit the eastern coast of Mexico or Padre Island? Head in towards Austin and San Antonio? Lose strength after passing through the Yucatan Peninsula and simpley bring Texas a lot of rain?? …or is she saying “SURPRISE HOUSTON” I’m coming for YOU!!!  It has been my misfortune or fortune to go through many hurricanes, even one in the Bahamas. One of the things I’ve learned is that the forecasters can predict and guess but only the hurricane knows where it will go.  Therefore, you have to keep your eyes on the weather and radar. Don’t ...
