On Thursday, we give thanks for all of the blessings we have experienced throughout the year. Unfortunately, not everyone is as fortunate. Millions of families throughout the United States struggle to make ends meet. That makes celebrations like Thanksgiving and Christmas that much harder. Please consider helping these families by donating to the Spark of Love Toy Drive right now.Spark of Love Toy Drive 2023All you need to do is drop off a new, unwrapped toy at a participating business or the Ventura Fire Department. All donations must get dropped off at one of these locations before the end of business on December 11th. The local fire departments also accept non-perishable food items. Then, all toys will be distributed to underprivileged children around Ventura County while the food go...

Is this the time of year when you wonder what the First Thanksgiving was like in America?Well here is the true story that you may never had heard about. Francisco Coronado gave thanks to God our Creator in the year of our Lord 1540 in Arizona 80 years before the Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts in 1620 after surviving their journey on the Mayflower and barely getting through the first Winter in the New World for their much more celebrated first Thanksgiving.               Francisco Coronado and his men thanking God for their travels to New World in 1540.Pilgrims in 1620 were not even born when Coronado explored Arizona and 5 interior States in 1540As your family is gathering around the Thanksgiving dinner table this year and the story of the first 'Thanksgiving in the "New World" comes...

Rainy Weather + Leaves = Driving Risks  Leaves are similar to ice when they get wet in that they create a barrier between the road and your tires. With ice, it's a layer of water. With leaves, it's the slippery surface they have on both sides added to a layer of water. This is a Montgomery County, Maryland announcement. We have a very rainy day in Maryland. Small museums in Montgomery County range from the historical to the interactive to the just plain fun. You can choose from a historic home, a trolley museum, or even a museum dedicated to cows! There are lots of small museums to choose from. The Beall-Dawson HouseThe Beall-Dawson House was built in 1815 by Upton Beall, Clerk of the Montgomery County Court.  It is still close to the Montgomery County courts at 103 Montgomery Avenue in Rockville.  It is a 2 1/2 story brick Federal-style home distinguished by elegant, highstyle architecture that was more common in Georgetown where the family first lived. It stood out from the more typical and smaller Rockville log and clapboard houses at the time. Now owned by the City of Rockville, it is operated as a museum by the Montgomery County Histor...

Between the Thanksgiving Day NFL games and the Macy’s Parade, the family visits and delicious meals, the wonderful fall weather and the long weekend, take a moment to notice the abundance around you and the things you’re grateful for this year. It’s easy to start with family and friends, home, and health. To really stir your sense of gratitude and appreciation though, set aside some time for reflection. (Photo: Prayer Sunrise John Hain from Pixabay(Photo: Grateful Heart, Wise Agent)Here are a few questions to help with your gratitude list:1. Did I thank the Lord for each new day and breath? Did I put my trust in the Lord?   As a child I always got excited about new Disney movies. My parents were big believers in only letting my brother and I watch "G-rated" movies, which primarily meant Disney films. My Dad always joked that the rating system went like this: "G stands for Great, PG stands for Pretty Good and R stands for Rotten." Disney's new "Wish" movie is about to come out on November 22. We have exclusive "first look" tickets through our D-23 and Disney+ memberships, so I'm excited to see it in the theater. While I don't know much about the story line yet, I do know one of the main characters is "Star" and it's also a tribute in a way to Disney's 100 years of animated movies.  Thanks for reading "Who is Excited to See Disney's New Wish Movie?"
