My neighbor texted me late yesterday afternoon…“would you like some boxwoods? “ we took out the plants in front of our garage.””Well of course I would!”Turns out she was redoing her front landscaping and had pulled out these huge boxwood plants. Now in my mind I’m thinking small little boxwoods, but low and behold these things are huge. As you can see they look perfect in my garden but whether they will survive the transplant is another story which I’ll report on at a later date  Thank goodness for great neighbors! Our spring trimming will commence next week as welll and should look much more manicured and beautiful

In the rich tapestry of nature, bison, though akin to their bovine cousins, possess remarkable distinctions. Unlike cattle, bison exhibit a peculiar behavior when confronted with a snowstorm; they pivot into its icy embrace, for their innate wisdom guides them to seek swifter passage through it's adversity, embracing the tempest to hasten their journey to shelter.  Your action for today is to recognize that the fastest way through a storm, is into the the storm. Happy Sunday to you all!Wishing Denver was "in the path of totality", but then again, don't want the city to be flooded with people either.   So, maybe it is OK.   Will see it on the news. The wind has been ferocious over the last couple of days.    We have had wind gusts over 90 miles an hour.   Right now, there are 88,000 homes with no power, as our utility company has turned it off to ensure they don't start a fire.   We are SO dry, and this wind doesn't help anything.   We have seen a few fires over the last couple of days, but luckily, nothing huge.   Hopefully, the power will be on later today for those without.   (mine never went off)Went on a hike to Castlewood Canyon Friday when the weather wasn't too windy, and saw 74 degrees!   Perfect day for a good walk.    There was still s...

Have you ever noticed how beautiful the vegetables are displayed in some of the grocery stores?  One of my favorite Fresh Food Markets has some of the most creative and eye catching displays. Some look so inviting like this beautiful photo I took of a display of fresh asparagus and cauliflower. It's like they're just begging you to take them home and cook up something deliciousApparently there is actually a strategy behind how they display them.First off, they put the best-looking veggies right at the front of the store or in the most visible spots. That way, they catch your eye as soon as you walk in.And have you ever noticed how neat and organized everything looks? They arrange the veggies in these perfect piles or rows, mixing up the colors and textures to make them look extra appealin...

Today is Worth Singing About! Caturday's are meant for catching up with paperwork, house chores or for spending time in the garden. Slinky and I would meet quite often in Nerdin Gardens. She would happily supervise in between cat naps and chin scratches, while her tiny paws gently padded their way into my heart. Every day is an opportunity to improve relationships by reaching out to those who matter, even if it's just a satisfying belly rub. Happy Caturday all!

I dream a lot and funny on some of my dreams.  I dream of being in the restaurant business and what it would be like to move up to a supervisor,  That dream came true, then I dream of being a Regional Manager, that dream came true.  4 years later I did not dream about it but I became a V. P. for the same company.Last night I was dreaming of writing a contract for the 87 year old client and it was accepted.  In the same dream I had a guy (that I have not met yet) and wrote a contract for him and it was accepted.  So I think dreams do come true!

Happy Flash Drive Day on April 5th! National Flash Drive Day s a newer holiday-2019 was actually the first year it was celebrated, making 2024 it's fifth anniversary. National Flash Drive Day commemorates the date inventors filed their patent for the first USB Flash Disk. As information flowed from our fingertips, the flash drive became the go-to storage device. Called by many names, the USB (universal serial bus) drive makes digital data more accessible than ever before. People commonly use flash drives to effortlessly store photos, transfer files and upload gigabytes. By stretching budgets and services, these super functional devices make virtual classrooms possible. They provide access to information to parts of the world many of us take for granted. In third world and oppressed coun...

This Week…Old Friends This month’s April Challenge brought to mind how important friends are. Remember that the most valuable antiques are dear old friends. H. Jackson Brown, Jr.When I revisit old posts of mine, there’s a little tug at my heart when I see members who are no longer on ActiveRain. Be slow in choosing a friend, slower in changing. Benjamin FranklinSadly some have passed on. However there are others who have backed away from the platform for a variety of reasons. Instead of loving your enemies — treat your friends a little better. E. W. I know that I’m going to do a better job of keeping in touch with members. I’m going to channel Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 ! The most I ...

If you read my blog, you know Cleo, my Siamese Cat.  Today, April 5th, is Siamese Cat Day, so how can I not talk about it and wish Cleo a happy day?  She slept Most of the day except when the Earthquake hit. Yes, there was an earthquake in the area. It hit New Jersey and New York. Philly just felt the tremors. I was changing the sheets and thought I hit the remote, and the bed was vibrating, but the remote was on the nightstand. Cleo was looking all around the room in a bit of a panic. She likes to watch me change the sheets and is fascinated when I throw everything on the floor as she hurries out of the way.   She follows me and jumps on my lap as I do my work on the computer until she is bored. Then, she goes off to a more comfortable spot to sleep. She is my loving companion. Who lov...

Many think of the Pocono Mountains and consider only the abundant natural beauty of the region: endless options for hiking, fishing, bicycling, skiing, snowboarding, and on and on. While this is certainly a point of pride for the Poconos, there are many across NEPA who work to create a robust art and cultural scene as well. This is cultivated arguably most prominently in the small eclectic town of Jim Thorpe, PA. With plenty of small businesses and creative spaces, the town offers much to create a community of art and independence.  A stand-out event in this regard is Jim Thorpe’s Annual Independent Film Festival. 2024 marks the 7th annual iteration of this highly anticipated event: people come from far and wide to immerse themselves in film at the historic Mauch Chunk Opera House. The ...

The dish "Marry Me Chicken" got its name because it's so delicious that it's rumored to be so good, it could inspire a marriage proposal!  With the wedding season upon us, I thought it might be fun to post this recipe and who knows... this might win over a potential groom into jumping in with a marriage proposal! The combination of flavorful ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and creamy sauce makes it a standout dish that may just win over anyone's heart. While its origin isn't entirely clear, it's likely that the name caught on due to its reputation for being irresistibly tasty. Here's a recipe for "Marry Me Chicken" along with instructions: Ingredients:- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (a whole roaster chicken can be used as well)- Salt and pepper, to taste- 2 ta...
