One of my friends had a procedure yesterday that went into the brain, to ensure there wasn't an issue.This was SO scary since I am SO far away.    I would have been with her there in the hospital had I still been in Colorado.   You feel so helpless.Luckily, the result of the procedure revealed no issue, and nothing further needed to be done!   WHEW!   SO relieved.Sure was plugged in with the time change, and watched my phone like a hawk when the procedure was over to text her husband! 08/28/2026

Friday Fun…Ten Doesn’t Mean Twenty (Or Forty) What do you think of self-checkout lines?  I don’t have an issue with them except when someone either can’t count or thinks Limit 10 doesn’t apply to them. I’m not a curmudgeon…if there are plenty of lines open, then if someone has a few extra items…who cares.  Most self-checkout lines have a store employee for assistance. Even a pro at going through the lines needs help when the scanners don’t cooperate.  Early this morning, the line at our self-checkout was unusually long. I noticed a woman whose cart was already full of items she’d already scanned. She was still scanning items when I left! For some easy Friday Fun…Do you use the Self-checkout line?Would you rather a cashier check out your groceries? 08/28/2026

Before moving to Portugal, I did check out what the weather would be like for all the seasons.   Summer would be "brutal" I thought, hot and humid.  BUT, it hasn't been all that bad, with just an occasional day that the heat was too much for me.   The breeze coming off the ocean is really nice, and some days even though it was mid-80's, I didn't have the A/C on.A few times in the last couple of weeks, I wake, and it is majorly gray outdoors.   The temps were in the low 70's and the humidity and is in the 90's%.   And, one day last week, we got a few sprinkles.   This morning was the same - only it was 61 degrees at 7:00, which 98% humidity.  The wind started blowing, and then a few sprinkles followed.  Not much, just a little.  It was actually a bit chilly in here this morning!   I had ... 08/27/2026

A member of the Robert Timm family will turn 65 late December this year. I only bring it up because a service provider sent her this postcard.Some pretty amazing information. Of course inflation is always an eye opener. Just look at that average income.
