I'm following over 200 members. There's only so many hours in the day. I keep up with my regular readers and make sure to comment on them, because they do the same for me. I also enjoy checking in with them, because these are the people I feel close to because we are regulars with each other. I fit in other members when I have the time.
As far as the number of members one can handle...well if AR was my job, I could handle a lot of members, but it's not, and I have to work within my time constraints. I think some people can handle a larger number of followers than others. At over 200...I think I have too many, but a lot of them aren't very active and that helps to lighten the load.

I follow a number greater than I can keep up with but as Ron Marshall said so many of them have dropped off. Usually I like to go to either to the featured blogs or the recent blogs then I check the following list for recent blogs I may have missed.

I like all your suggestions. Sitting back and watching is not all bad and then following can come later. Oh if compelled early on, hit that follow button.

It can get overwhelming, so I just rotate whom I look at closely each day.

I have some on my list that haven't posted in over a year. I guess if they decide to start back they wil be on my radar. Thanks for your opinions on this.

I don't see the number pf people that follow me as an issue. But I can only follow so many myself. That is the biggest challange as I want and need to talk with more people here.

Debbie,
I follow quite a few, luckily some of them don't write that often. I do my best spreading the love...A

I go to my "regulars" everyday Debbie. Don't have the time to go to featured blogs unless someone recommends one...

I am at about 200, Debbie, but so many of them have "dropped off." And, I usually only comment and read those folks who reciprocate.

Debbie Reynolds following someone who you like is a good idea - there does not need to be a specific number. Handling? once in a week or so, go over the list and see who you could not connect during the week. Regular blogger will show up every day! (Like you, in my list of followers!)
