Sally K. & David L. Hanson Yes, they should stick to issues in helping the industry and not political persuasion.

Good morning Sally. If there are bills proposed that effect the livelihood of the membership, then yes. However, beyond not the job of the association.

I do not think dues money should go for that. RPAC money is totally voluntary and that is different in my book and should go for our Realtor agenda.

I disagreed witch how they spent my money years ago. As a result I decided to not play anymore. I certainly don't think it's affected my business in any way.

Can you clarify that? Are you talking about backing a political candidate using the dues. If that is the case, I would say, yes, they should be prohibited. A

Yes. We have a PAC and any spending should only come from it. And I do not always agree with their expenditures.

Personally, I hate it. Just received a reminder from my local association "recommending" whom to vote for in our primary elections. I wouldn't vote for a single one of these candidates, ever!

That IS what they should be doing.
The trickery that is constantly afoot in capital cities is hidden from the eyes of the citizen and real estate agent.
But as we see time and time again our vote matters not, for any matter since it will all be decided by a judge.

I don't like to think about what they spent on, I'd rather spent that time learning or thinking on how to improve business. As long as the keep the MLS in good shape and let me do my job I am happy. Not raising fee's to much would also be great though. The big guys in D.C. do help protect us.

In Wisconsin that "ain't necessarily so" Buzz Mackintosh....It is a very one party kind of support...and the BIG point is....you don't need to spend my dues or anyone's to tell me how to vote...I am bright enough to figure that out all by myself.

RPAC is the best insurance policy for our industry. If you want to find out all it does get involved in your local or state legislative committee. If you didn't have someone looking out for the REALTORS interest politically we would most likely be paying a sales tax on every commission dollar we earn. RPAC is non partisan and supports the REALTOR party candidates who supportour issues.

Sally and David - I think the 'membership' should have a say in where our association money is spent overall.
