I can only say I certainly hope not...especially not popcorn ceilings, but who knows?  Maybe we'll also see lava lamps again, too!

No, not popcorn ceilings. But many old classics will probably repeat in popularity. Avocado kitchen appliances are appealing to some who like the retro look now.

Everything old becomes new again.    Wallpaper is back so why not shag carpet?

Shag carpet & popcorn ceilings?  I certainly hope not!  I, personally, hate carpeting, period.  Hardwood is so much easier to clean and is much healthier.  Popcorn ceiling are a whole 'nother story.  

With dogs I'll pass on the shag carpet!

My feeling on the future will be what we have seen in science fiction such as "The Jetsons" etc.

people want to be "new" and fresh. sometimes they are good improvements, sometimes just meaningless. when granite tiles were in, then slabs came. slabs are much easier to clean, and last longer and dont crack as much. and the cost isnt that much more. shag carpet has come and gone a couple times. shag throws are popular on wood or tile

Everything old is new again! I don't know about things like popcorn ceilings, but  keep in mind that the craze for frise carpet in recent years was ultimately for a modified shag style. I bet that one of these days even brass will come back in style!

I will say no to shag carpet.

Some, like wallpapers are back and I really love new designs, but I'd say a big fat NO to popcorn ceilings. That is the ugliest feature ever.

I like anything retro. Anything Old Hollywood. Have you seen some of the new hairstyles. Straight out of Dynasty.

For some of us styles and fads do not matter, as long as it is clean and in good repair I am fine with any style.

I think old ideas are always recycled and brought back in a modernized way. I hope this won't happen with popcorn ceilings though!

where have you been?  Frieze carpet is the new "in" thing in my market and it's in all the new construction. I like it myself.  However if popcorn ceilings come back people can keep those.

Yes I believe some of these will come back around but maybe not in my lifetime.

Yes some styles will repeat themselves.  Look at bellbottoms as they made a come back a few years ago.  I did not wear them the first time I certainly did not ware bellbottoms the second time around.

I think often things are reinvented.  Shag area rugs are on trend...with hardwood.  It works in a small area and by contrasting surfaces.  The shags are different in how they are constructed. (shag carpet out of style and not very practical - collects dirt, germs, odors.

Bell bottoms are different than they were in the 70's...the newer ones were shaped to be more slimming and flattering.

What is really in demand is more main floor master bedrooms. 

I think most things that involve design are cyclical.  However, the 'reincarnation' of styles usually has an added twist.
