I recently read that a startlingly low percentage of all US adults have less than $1000 in savings -- it's not just a millennial issue.

That is what i was thinking as well with my answer. Thanks for the answer Conrad Allen . I think one of the flaws os what they syudy in college has no relation to the real world jobs. Liberal arts, ancient languages maybe great if you are going into teaching, but other than that?? I am at a loss why you would pay $100,000 to even $200,000 for 4 years of a degree you wont ever use

Less than a $1,000 easily applies to well over 50% of millennials!

Those are interesting stats. I had no idea. I think 37% is more shocking than the 1k in savings.

I would have guessed that most would have a savings of $0.00, of course this is true for many Americans.

Wow- that is scary!  I would think that they would have a lot saved  as a lot of them still live with mom and dad...

Hard to say. Seems like many people use their checking accounts for their savings account these days.

That is sad.  But, I think that millenials covers a broad range, so some may still be in school and therefore don't have full time jobs.  Nonetheless, that's sad news (but not surprising).

Conrad, you might want to do a follow up on people in their 50's on their savings. Not a pretty sight there either.
