In CA I just go to the BRE website, they have the stats there. Each state should have their own website for the Bureau or Department of Real Estate.

The list of licensed real estate sales agents will be found on your state's professional licensing website.

When you call try to get the number of licensed agents for a few consecutive and complete years.

The call your states NAR organization and find out how many REALTORS for the same years. State your purpose to evaluate how many who are licensed are not actually engaged in real estate sales.

Using the same REALTOR data, you will be able to normalize the counts to reveal the 1st and 2nd year failure rates.

DO NOT REVEAL TO NAR THIS IS YOUR PURPOSE OR THE DATA WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.

Check your email.
