The Summer Science Academy at Peralta Trail Elementary School has been reported by the local media to have been a great success. On a recent day students were doing experiments with magnets, while others were measuring liquids into test tubes and still another group were engrossed in a math project that they were actually having fun participating in. This was the first year of the "hands on" summer science and math program and according to Peralta Trails Elementary School Principal, Larry LaPrise the program caused a lot of excitement among both students, parents and teachers. A new 36,000 sq ft retail center will be opening in Gold Canyon Arizona in fall 2007. Located on the north side of Highway 60 between Superstition Mountain Drive and Mountainbrook Drive, the 2 story retail center plans to offer a number of small businesses to the growing Gold Canyon Arizona community. Developers plan a mix of small retail businesses, medical, health offices and restaurants. corporate offices may occupy the 6,000 sq ft second level and the developer has indicated that the 1,500 patio might house a sports bar. The developer has not released any details of exact names of the businesses yet, citing that he needs 30% lof the project eased before he releases business names. 07/10/2007

A special day commemorating cowboys has been set aside. The day this year is July 28, 2007. The National Day of the Cowboy (and Cowgirls)has now become an official event sanctioned by the US Senate and State of Arizona as well as the governing bodies of Pinal County and Apache Junction Arizona. The quest to establish this special day began in 2004. Now the Fourth Saturday in July is scheduled to be an annual event every year commemorating cowboys and cowgirls after George W Bush signed Senate Resolution 138. Gold Canyon Arizona has a new restaurant. The location of the former Yacht Club/Texas Grill has been reopened as the Firehouse Bar and Grill. Open daily from 11am until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11am until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant focuses on family favorites. This includes French Dip, great burgers, Sloppy Joes, cod, and salads. There is a billiard and game section along with some plasma TVs and the place is smoke-free. Gold Canyon Arizona Sewer Company has been attempting to raise monthly fees to residents. Area residents have been concerned and upset about this. Several efforts have been made to stop the increase from happening, but the latest information indicates that an increase is looming in the near future. Last Month The Gold Canyon A.D.O.B.E Team completed a highway cleanup from Kings Ranch Road To Superstition Mountain drive. First of all, there is no such thing as a "national real estate market." All markets are much more local. Most experts agree, though, that the real estate markets throughout the US (with some exceptions) bottomed out in the 4th Quarter of 2006. However, there has not been much of a recovery yet; inventories are still high and prices are still soft.The NAR reported that transactions were down only 9% in the 3 Quarter of 2006. This number is suspect because most other sources, including Realogy and Real Trends reported a 16 to 18% drop. The average should be somewhere in the 16.5% range.Also, for the 1st time in 16 years, the median commission rate INCREASED.                Back in the 1920's a common clause in loan agreements gave banks the right to demand full repayment of the loan at anytime. When the stock market crashed on October 29, 1929, millions of investors lost huge sums of money, much of it on the margin. As the stocks were dropping, investors weren't intrested in selling so they went to the bank and took out cash to cover their margin call. So sooner than later the banks ran out of cash (understandable) so who did the call on?? Americans faithfully paying their mortgage payments every month. However there wasn't any demand to buy these homes so prices continued to drop.
