Goodbye Mr. Spock and We Will Miss You I grew up with the new show "Star Trek" and remember watching it on TV. I was fascinated with Leonard Nimoy who played Mr. Spock, a Half-Vulcan/ Half-Human and he was the most interesting character on the show and he had created the vulcan hand-shake which is still popular among Trekies. The original show only lasted 3 seasons but we all enjoyed the reruns later. Nimoy was best known by his followers as Spock but he played in many movies and several other TV series, "Mission Impossible" and "In Search Of". Nimoy played in all the Star Trek movies as Spock's father after they were recast with young actors. Nimoy also directed many well known movies, wrote books, enjoyed photography and poetry. A $300 Million Dollar Jail in Whitewater's Backyard has the 200+ Residents in an uproar. We didn't know about this proposed Jail until the latter part of September.  An emergency meeting was called for residents to try to get some of their questions answered, but actually there are more questions than answers.  Apparently the County was going to do a "Presentation" to the Residents, but the jail plan was found out before this official "presentation" was given.         "It's right in the middle of the county,"  Marion Ashley said of the site of the proposed jail in White Water. "It's just an ideal spot because if we didn't choose it, we would have to build a new jail in the western portion of the county and a new one in the eastern portion." Cabazon, CA is a small unincorporated area in Riverside County between Banning and Palm Springs.  Cabazon used to be a City (1955-1972) but they voted to unincorporate. Currently Cabazon is the only Community/Town to give up being a City in Riverside County.  Apparently the citizens of Cabazon all 2,000 of them, were tired of the Politics, and Scandals so voted to Unincorporate back in 1972.  Well, that was then and this is now.   In 1972 Cabazon didn't have a lot going for it.  Nothing in the area had a lot going for it.  Development was slow to come to the area, and the ones that tried got voted out. Several years ago, after Cabazon had voted not to be a City anymore Banning voted against having the  Outlet Malls, and so they built them on land that is was in the unicorprorated area o... 09/16/2008

What does the Purple Ribbon stand for?  Last week when I was at the Clinic on the REZ I saw Purple Ribbons tied to all the Posts, and little signs supporting August as Purple Ribbon Month.…..a Campaign to remind everyone of NOT leaving a child alone in a car. Yes, it’s a Law, but not everyone follows the law, and children die or get hurt unnecessarily. Kaitlyn’s Law, was named after the 6 month old that died after being left unattended for 2 hours in a car by her babysitter. Last week I wrote a Blog about a referral, and how I was still working to get the listings.  Well, yesterday I finally got the paperwork back on 5 of the properties...and have one more to go.  These are all recycled properties...been listed before, and didn't sell.  Then I got a call for a house close to the lots....would I be interested in listing it....another recycled one.  OK, let's finish my week...a FSBO from 2 years ago called me and asked if I would list their property.  6 land Listings and 2 possible houses all this week :)  So, why did I take all these recycled listings?                           When I first started in Real Estate I picked the Cabazon/White Water area and land lots in the Desert Communities by Palm Springs, CA.  I did very well, and learned the area.  At firs... 08/13/2008

Cabazon has 2 different Outlets although I doubt most people even notice the difference.  The Desert Hills Premium Outlets has over 120 Stores, and has been a premier shopping destination for years.  Big Tourist Buses bring International Shoppers here where they can find some great bargains.  Desert Hills Premium Outlets is one of the Outlet Centers, and Cabazon Outlets is right next to it, and is very small....I haven't counted, but I think there are under 20 stores in the Cabazon Outlets. Cabazon, CA is an interesting little town.  It's not a city, and only has one little store, a Post Office, and the Am/PM Gas Station at the Main Street exit.  That's on the South Side of the Freeway....the side where locals think of Cabazon as Cabazon. For years Cabazon was just a small little town off the I-10 Freeway between Banning and Palm Springs.  It was best known for the big Dinosaur on the North Side of the Freeway.  That Dinosaur was made famous in a few movies, including a Pee Wee Herman one.   That was  Cabazon to most people.                           This is a recent picture of what many of the Vacant Lots look like.  They haven't been developed yet, but they will.  This is on the South Side of the Freeway.   The Morongo Indian Reservation is typically thought of on the N.... 08/02/2008

Ever just get in your car, fasten the seat belt, and continue on your way without any thought that you might never make it to your destination? How do you know which areas have the most Traffic Accidents if you are just driving through?  As a Real Estate Agent I drive a lot.....and I used to think I was a good driver.  But just one small mishap can change everything forever.  Many times we have to drive in areas we are unfamiliar with.  We drive in rush hour traffic, bad weather:  dust storms, wind storms, rain and snow storms. Septic Sytems are not the same as sewer, they need more care.
