Dogwoods are one of my favorite flowering trees. I honestly didn't know much about them, or maybe never noticed one, until I moved to the San Bernardino Mountains in 1991. But here, in Lake Arrowhead and its surrounding towns, you have to notice these beauties this time of year because when they wake from a winter's sleep, their white, bright, neon flowers (bracts) demand attention.  Unfortunately, the flower-like petals only last two to three weeks.Today, while running errands, I decided to stop and take a few pictures of these spectacular trees. Right now they are at their peak with their sweet, white flowers waving in the slight breeze.
