I thought a lot about this post and wondered if I wanted to "go there" because every now and again you a person who seems to take endless advantage of how helpful we are at Lane Realty.  But since those kind of folks only come a long once in a blue moon I decided to go all out and tell a few of the tales of just how far we go for our clients. Those children attending Gatewood will just have one day to sleep in that their friends are going to Putnam County Schools this year.  Gatewood is a private school in Putnam County located in the city limits of Eatonton.  The full schedule for the 2012-13 year is quite similar to the Putnam County School schedule this year so the local folks will have children on holidays at the same times. Football starts the same night at Putnam County too.  Gatewood will be hosting Flint River Academy on August 24, 2012, but the full schedule for the season is right here.  My favorite game is always the battle of the lakes between Gatewood and John Milledge Academy.  It's the ONE night of the season where I have to pull for the other team.  John Millege, just over the Lake Sinclair border was closer ... 08/04/2012

DAYS ON THE MARKET NUMBER OF HOMES SOLD ON LAKE SINCLAIR AVERAGE PRICE OF HOMES SOLD ON LAKE SINCLAIR AND WHAT DO THESE NUMBERS ALL SHOW? In my opinion, of course, these numbers still don't say "RECOVERY" of any kind I still see stabilization.  Two of the Lake Sinclair sales for July were bank owned and "Lake" is questionable for each of them and they pulled the numbers down.  But when a listing agent checks the Lake Sinclair box, who am I to question.  But I am telling you the facts because I saw both of them and one additional private sale in July that the only boats that could float in the water in the front of a property were the ones that hold a Barbie doll.  Just for the heck of it I eliminated the three iffy Lake properties from the average price and it moved it up from $174,345.... 08/01/2012

It's a phone call I get ALL the time.  Where can I rent a boat to check out Lake Sinclair?  Because honestly there is no better way to explore the lake on your own than by boat.  When you are just driving around you can't even always see the lake from the street to know "how big the water is" or what the view looks like from this area.  And you really shouldn't just be pulling down driveways... EVEN if there is a for sale sign the yard.  It's NOT an invitation to trespass. I'm not sure you can even access that door anymore, it's not the "entrance" anymore.  Years ago a new section was added that enlarged the space and even combined it with the school library from my grammar school.  And even though it's larger and nicer, I sat on those steps in front of that door and read books from time to time so I could go back and turn it in so I could check out another when I would pick more than the limit.  I used to be a member every summer of a "reading club" and get a certificate for reading a set number of books.  e-books and kindles distress me.  I love books, I love the smell and feel of a good old fashioned book.  And my favorite authors, I collect their books in hardback and I keep them after I ready them.  I always feel like I've become friends with the ch... 07/22/2012

Pine Forest Subdivision is in Putnam County on the west side of Lake Sinclair and the part of the lake closest to Macon.  Twin Bridges offers a few things that other areas don't, there's a marina with boat storage and repair, a convenience store right there.  The photo to the left was taken from one of the "twin" bridges and the property to the right in the photograph is "Pine Forest Subdivision"  The most spectacular part being on Lake Sinclair in Pine Forest Subdivision is that for MUCH of the subdivision the property across the lake is part of the Oconee National Forest and for the foreseeable future will not be deleveloped.  That means you get to enjoy Lake Sinclair and the nature it has to offer at it's very best. Oconee Springs Park- Swimming, camping, boating, convenience... I've mentioned Oconee Springs Park in my you can camp at Lake Sinclair posts... but I wanted to take a closer look and show you how much more it has to offer:  And you know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words... well I don't know about that, but I agree that these speak volumes about the ammenities available at Oconee Springs Park.  Take a look. Recycling electronics in Georgia When I read a post about Recycling electronics written by Ron Marshall  I was sad there was not a place in Georgia on his list.  So I set out to investigate and am really relieved at what I found out this morning. Georgia created a Computer Equipment and Disposal and Recycling Council in 2002 Georgia Hazardous Waste Act of 2001 controls what can and cannot be placed in GA landfills And I began thinking I was going to list links to here there and yonder that you can drop off electronics of this sort or that sort.  I found some places take cell phones, others take computer monitors, others batteries ect.  Then I found Georgia Electronic Recycling.  They take LOTS of stuff and even pay you for it.  Their list is long: AC adapters, power supplies, surge prot... 07/05/2012

So I had an appointment Saturday morning.... then I was off to Green Glades Farm to get corn.  I'm sure I didn't know my feet were going to hurt this bad at the end of the day when I said 100 ears please.  That's a LOT of corn.  It filled the two laundry baskets I took with me to bring it home inside.  So by 6 that evening all by myself I had the first 50 ears shucked and silked and cut off the cob and on the stove to cook. Donald got home a little after 7 and he helped with silking and stirring and even took the puppies for a short walk, which is usually my job on days he works.  The last batch was cooking and the first batch was cooling when he went to bed.  But eventually I got it all done. So in the end I'm going to have about 17 bags of creamed corn in my freezer.  The cost?  $24.0... 07/03/2012

Crooked Creek Community on Lake SinclairWhen choosing an area of Lake Sinclair there are many things to consider not the least of which is if you own the lot or lease it from Georgia Power Companuy.  The Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair is an area of fee simple lots.  You own the dirt from the road right down to the shoreline.  Crooked Creek Community also has other amenities not commonly found around Lake Sinclair (or at least right around the corner) I live in a neighboring community and drive there for some of the great ammenties (see Pizza below).Fishermen, you can also launch your boat here and park your trailer at Crooked Creek Marina. There is camping for both tents and RVs and bathroom facilities. .  Crooked Creek Cove on Lake Sinclair is the largest cove on the lake.  T... 07/02/2012

Can you even believe that nearly half of 2012 has slipped by us. I can't next thing you know my mom will be calling me and we'll be planning our annual Christmas shopping trip. If you have never been to the Lake Country Freedom Festival, you'll want to attend. You'll want to bring your kids and grand kids to play in the kids zone. You'll want to eat, you love the entertainment. The day is fantastic and you'll find lots for the entire familiy to do and enjoy. The crafts fair has some really great art and amazing exhibits. I promise you won't be disappointed. I saw some really cool stuff last year and I know those folks will be back. Forest Lake Village at Lake Sinclair is one of the few site built only neighborhoods on the lake.  With Lake Sinclair being nearly 60 years old much of the shoreline has been developed since before 1980.  There are lots of older fishing cabins and even travel trailers and many manufactured homes on Lake Sinclair.  Forest Lake Village on Lake Sinclair was one of the last huge developments in Putnam County and was developed and sold as a site built only neighborhood.  Forest Lake Village also is the only neighborhood that not only has private lake access, but interior lots have green ways that go to Lake Sinclair and some interior lots even offer nice lake views.
