The Language of Houses   I am recommending a book called “The Language of Houses” by Alison Lurie. I picked this book up at Barnes and Noble while looking for a gift and was immediately drawn to the title because it talked about “How Buidings Speak to Us”. I said this is unique because I never thought about it in those terms. I know  buyers have preferences on style, type of home, architecture but I never thought about how these differences speak to us as people. The weather is perfect for this weekend's Centennial Street Fest in Forest Park, IL.  The festival starts today and runs through Sunday and will be located at the south grove on Van Buren south of Madison St.  The CTA Blue Line's stop is very close and the Green Line will get you into Forest Park, too.   There will be carnival rides, food and musical talent.  My husband's band, The New Invaders, will be playing tonight and will be opening for American English.  The Ides of March will also be playing this weekend.  It is suggested that you bring a chair or blanket.  It is getting cooler at night so you should probably bring a jacket, too.  Hard to imagine with the hot weather we've had this summer. I just sold a beautiful townhouse in Forest Park IL to another couple who started looking in Chicago but ended up looking in Forest Park and the adjoining town of Oak Park.  Like my other recent couple they really wanted a place in Chicago but weren't happy with what they were getting for the money.
