It was such a beautifully written sentiment to my town that it had to be posted AS IS! The Naming of the Town called Santa Claus! In the late 1840s, a group of settlers-mostly of German descent-formed a small community in Spencer County in Southern Indiana. Although they no doubt had to deal with the day-to-day struggles of pioneer life, the weightiest problem that plagued them was the lack of a name for their town. In fact, the community became known as the "nameless town." If you love Christmas like I do then you won't want to pass up the chance to visit Santa Claus Indiana! Over the next few weeks I will be creating a Group and building up Localism for Santa Claus Indiana as well Spencer County Indiana as a whole. "I Live in Santa Claus Indiana, in Christmas Lake Village" lol. It is a GREAT place to live but does come with challenges in marketing for a Realtor. There are 2 Villages (the one I live in is Gated; the other one is called Holiday Village and it is not gated), and you cannot market within the villages (door to door style). To market in this neck of the woods you have to get creative and involved in community events and activities. On December 17, 2006 at 8:00p.m. (CST) HGTV will be featuring the town of Santa Claus, IN in their "Over the Top Christmas" Christmas Special.  It looks like the Spencer County Visitors Bureau has been busy getting this town some exposure.  Besides the show, this town has also been featured in Midwest Living, AAA Midwest Traveler, Travel Girl and Indianapolis Woman to mention a few.                                                                                                        A little history about Santa Claus, Indiana.  In 1856, the U.S. Postal Department gave official notice that the community would have a post office.  The famous little town is home to the world's only post office with the Santa Claus name.  Each year, this small town hosts an old-fashioned "Christmas in Sant...
