The Five Dyfunctions of a Team centers on Kathryn Petersen, a former CEO who came out of retirement to build a dysfunctional group of executives into a cohesive and effective team.  Kathryn forces her colleagues to confront the behaviors that destroy most teams and adopt the five characteristics of a truly cohesive one. We want a team that rows together. We are reviewing the Five Dysfunctions of a Team and yesterday I was so proud of our team.  We are discussing each chapter.  We reviewed absence of trust and yesterday talked about fear of conflict.  Lencioni says a team needs to be aware of the charactersitics and dynamics to function at a high level.  So we are learning what to not do and do more of what we are very very good at.  The assessment helps us discover our strengths and wea...

What is like to live in Ann Arbor Townhip? We have compiled details for all the Ann Arbor Township subdivisions, neighborhoods, communities for homes and condos.  We work closely with Ann Arbor Township to ensure completeness and accuracy as best we can.  Ann Arbor Township is a planned community with master plan here. Ann Arbor Township, created in 1827, consists of approximately 15 square miles or 9500 acres.  Glaciers created two ridges, the Huron River and tributaries.  The Huron River was used for transportation to Lake Erie and local boulders and gravel were used for construction.  The area was primarily farmland until the railroad was complete which then allowed for faster transportation to Detroit. Freeways of US 23 and I 75 are the major North South corridors, with M 14 and I 9...

Fifteen years after Dearborn native musician Bob Seger graduated from high school right here in Ann Arbor, he released "Feel Like a Number." The song seems, in retrospect, to presage the way many Americans, including Washtenaw County residents, really are feeling these days - especially with regard to big banks. People are angry at big banks for their involvement in sub-prime mortgages and complex financial products like derivatives, which contributed to the financial crisis. In the wake of big banks' risky investment practices, which led to our nation's current financial downturn, consumers are looking at alternatives for the investment and safe-keeping of their precious funds. As Americans begin the slow rebound from the financial crisis, the New Rules Project's Community Banking Init...

If you are buying a home in the city over about 40 years old you should be having a sewer line inspection. Many homes built from the early 1940's to the mid 1960's used a material called Orangeburg for the sewer lines. Unfortunately Orangeburg has a limited life. (Do a search for Orangeburg on my blog for much more information and videos.) Many of the homes of this generation have had the sewer lines repaird already, but there is a special issue on these homes you need to be aware of. There are typically three different parts of the sewer line that might be replaced. An they are not always all done. 1. House to sidewalk. 2. Sidwalk to curb. 3. Curb to main line in the street. A listing may say "sewer replaced" when only the section from the house to the sidewalk has actually been replac...
