Fun New York Fact: It's the 44th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival If I could pick an era to be part of, I always said it would be during the 60's and 70's, life was so simply and inoccent and it seems like postive new movements were always coming about. Friday evening, August 15, Richie Havens got up on stage and officially started the Woodstock Festival. The music started up again on Saturday with Quill and continued non-stop until Sunday morning around 9 am. The day of psychedelic bands continued with such musicians as Santana, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, and The Who, to name just a few. The last musician to end the festival was Jimi Hendrix. It was estimated that about 500,000 people made it to the festival and by Sunday night about 25,000 remained. Now that's a Party!   08/14/2013

The famed Woodstock Concert occurred on farm not far from here August 15, 16, and 17 1969. The original plan was to have it even closer in the Town of Wallkill which surrounds the City of Middletown NY. The funny thing about the location where it finally occurred is that it was in the Town of Bethal not in Woodstock NY at all.  The concert site is actually 90 miles from the town of Woodstock.  Today the site of the concert is occupied by the Bethal Woods Center For The Arts which is a great place to visit even if it is not the anniversary weekend.  In this video you will see the construction of the stages at Woodstock.  The Center for the Arts its on the same hill where you can view the same lake.   I will be heading up that way on some other day to provide you with pictures of a field ... 08/16/2009

Yesterday afternoon my daughters Nicole and Victoria and I headed out to see their favorite band, The Jonas Brothers, play.  They were so excited as we took off from home in a horrible downpour.  I was really concerned as the concert was rain or shine and we had lawn seats.  As luck would have it we arrived at beautiful Bethel Woods (on the original sight  of the famous Woodstock Festival of 1969) and found blue skies and dry lawn.Of course we got there at the crack of early, I think the girls would have slept over in the parking lot if I let them, but we had parking right up near the entrance.  Right in front of the entrance there was a bus that is traveling the tour with the Jonas Brothers.                                                           The lines were frustrating and we wai... 08/15/2008
