A couple weeks ago while attending the Chacellor's Sheep and Wool Showcase at Clermont State Historic Site  I had my first encounter with herding dogs.   Although there were sheep at this event the dogs were herding ducks, this was such a cute event.I could not have asked for a nicer setting, the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains was the backdrop.  The event thrilled both young and old. 04/26/2015

Today was the annual Chancellor Sheep and Wool showcase at the Clermot State Historic Site.  You could not have asked for better weather, and a perfect setting.  I took an hour out of my day for a bit of fun.This event was well attended and there were a variety of vendors and activities.    The shearing of the sheep and the herding dogs demonstration were two of my favorites.Most of all I was able to spend the hour with my daughter,   We even had hot dogs which was a treat.Today was once again a reminder of how beautiful the Hudson Valley really is.         04/18/2015

The Train track with spectacular views This train track runs along the Hudson River on what would be considered prime real estate.   If the track was being planned today I am sure it would not be located here.  The location is not likely to change so why not enjoy the spectacular views.   This track is used by Amtrak trains, and is located between the Rhinecliff  Train Station in Rhinebeck NY and The Hudson Train Station in Hudson NY. 06/14/2014

I wonder why I could not stop thinking about a picnic?  On a recent visit to Clermont State Historic Site I couldn't help noticing all the benches and grills.  I could almost smell hamburgers and hotdogs. This view was observed from Clermont State Park; the majestic Hudson River, and in the background the spectacular Catskill Mountains. I can imagine sitting on one of the many picnic benches this spring and summer soaking up the views. Soon I can watch boats of all types go up and down the river. This year the Chancellor's Sheep and Wool Showcase will be held  on April 19, 2014  from 11:00-4:00 PM at the Clermont State Park. When you get to the venue the Clermont State Park it will be a colorful sight to see since the month of April will feature colorful yarn garffittii throughout the park. It will be  a day of fun, music, food, sheep shearing, knitting demonstrations, spinning, dyeing, exhibition of different breeds and much, much more. Shields Road a neighborhood on a private road Shields Road is a neighborhood located on a private road which was once a rail road bed.  Part of the Road is in the Town of Clermont in Columbia County and the rest in the town of Milan in Dutchess County.    Abandoned Bin    While I was out looking at properties I ran accrossed this abondoned bin.  It was an overcasted day an this object sat on a hill and looked like something from another time period. I called it a grain bin but later I was not sure after looking on-line and noting that alll the grain bins were made of much strong material. So what is it? Fall is such a lovely time of year.  I just can't help myself, I see so many wonderful scenes and I just have to reach for my camera. Here are a couple photos I took in Clermont a southern town in Columbia County NY.   This photo was just down the road from my favorite barbecue stop. Although the boys enjoy my cooking once in a while they deserve a break.  Cue 2 Go is a favorite.     He is going to get me.Although I appreciate nature I do keep my distance when it comes to all sorts of creatures. However with a camera I sometimes get closer than I normally would.Take this frog he might think he is a beauty and I might find him interesting but I certainly would not want to come in contact with his slimy body, not to mention he looks like he is going to get me.Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate the contribution frogs make to the ecosystem and with West Nile on the rise we might even want to kiss a frog:) 08/15/2012

    This is a mesmerizing view.   Last Thursday The Old Dutch Village Garden Club held their annual picnic at one of my favorite Hudson Valley spot, Clermont State Park.  I was not sure I could stay for the event because I don't cope well with the heat; however the locust trees provided shade and the breeze from the Hudson River gave me a needed break. The Clermont Farmers' Market runs from May to October and is opened on Saturdays from 10:00am-2:00pm.  It is located at the former Hettling Farm Stand, and just up the road from the Town Hall as well as the site of New York State Oldest Public School. At the farm market you will find a variety of products, meats, cheeses, fresh flowers, goat milk soup,jams, baked goods and much more. SPEECHLESS SUNDAY-HAY HAY Hay is a favorite photography subject for me because there are many farms in the area.  I just took a look at Google and it seems I am not alone.  The first time I saw a bale of hay I had no idea as to what it would be used for.  Since then I have found out how important it is to the food supply, since hay is a form of food for livestock.    The Hudson Bush Plant Sale at Clermont State Park is a one of a kind, it comes with a wonderful view of the Hudson River and CatsKill Mountains. Having attended the event in previous years I know you will find a variety of shrubs and flowers and other garden related items. It is also a good time to purchase plants for a herb garden.   If you already have one, why not add a new herb.
