Motivational Monday: Never Assume When I was studying to become a Feng Shui Consultant back in the early 2000's, one of the earliest lessons I learned from my mother (Carole Provenzale) and my mentors, was to never assume a consultation was going to be easy or challenging. You simply stepped into each session with an open mind and heart, actively listening to the words, taking notice of their body gestures and eye movements while also observing their environment with a none judgmental mindset.If we arrived to every consultation with the preconception of this person is x,y, z, it would block the very essence of the healing process. Several weeks ago I was on my way back from an appointment and passed by a place that had bird baths.  Mine had literally begun crumbling in my yard (someone had given it to us) because it was not made of cement.  I turned around and stopped in to see what this particular place had. The proprietor turned out to be an 82 year old gentleman that was a pleasure!  I wound up getting a new bird bath and one of those cement faces for my garden.  I will be returning as I need a new top for the birdbath I originally stopped for! Ulster County Real Estate - Area Info: Ellenville NY   Hidden away in the Southern end of Ulster County, in the Town of Wawarsing, is the Village of Ellenville, surrounded with stunning views of the Shawangunk Ridge. Fall looks like it is going to be spectacular this year in the Greater Hudson Valley.  We took a ride on Saturday and took some photos from an overlook on Route 52 heading over the mountain from Pine Bush to Ellenville.  You can just start to see the colors coming out.       If you have never taken New York State Route 52 up this way before I suggest you add a drive up this road on a future visit to the area.  There are a couple of these scenic overlooks where you can park and take in the views.  You can see for miles in either direction and the valley and mountain vistas are extrodinary. We attended the 2008 Blueberry Festival and were impressed with the vendors and residents, not to mention the awesome eye candy provided by the Shawangunk Mountains to the East and the Catskills to the Northwest. During our travels we received a lovely treat for we saw the monks dressed in very interesting attire walking along Grau Road and Pleasant Valley Road. My favorite parts of the Blueberry Festival included the food, live bands and the rock climbing wall. The Shadowland Theatre in Ellenville, New York located in Ulster County has an exciting schedule for this summer.  Currently, they are showing Art, by Yasina Reza, Translation by Chritopher Hampton.  A description from their website reads "Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, the wonderful comedy and Broadway hit, Art,lights up the Shadowland with an All-Star cast featuring Emmy and Tony Award- winning actor Judd Hirsch". I have not seen the play yet, but I have heard from others that have that it is absolutely wonderful!  I cannot wait to see it.   The Shadowland is one the great features of Ellenville.  There is also a great restaurant next door, Aroma Thyme Bistro, where you enjoy after show drinks, or dinner before the show. I am not sure if any of you have experienced this situation, but I think that it is becoming more and more prevalent throughout our area.  "What situation?" you might be wondering.  In my neighborhood which is in Ellenville, New York (and many others I am sure), there are three homes that I can think of right at that are in the process of being foreclosed on.  I have seen the notice of Lis Pendens in the local paper.  Then, shortly after that, the homeowners move out.  In these cases, the houses were neglected already and now...even worse!  They were nice homes in what I think is a nice neighborhood and now they are being left to fall apart.  One of the homes had a leaky roof when it was being offered for sale.  It was never sold, the roof was never fixed and I am sure that the situatio... 04/21/2008

The Village of Ellenville is located in the Town of Wawarsing in Ulster County, New York.  It is at the junction of Route 52 and US 209.  It is an easy to commute from Ellenville to Orange and Sullivan counties.    The first building was erected in the community around 1805, but by 1823 there were only about 4 houses in the village.
