Yesterday, I stood in Memorial Park in Spring Valley, proud to be in Rockland County. I stood amongst my peers celebrating our Haitian Culture and Pride. As the sun beamed on my face, it dawned on me the diversity in this county and how blessed we are, as Americans,  to be able to celebrate our heritage without fear of opposition or aggression.At that moment, I wondered how many other people in this world have to hide their customs or beliefs or identity because of fear just to live to see another day.
