Despite a bit of a cool down, Delaware County PA continues to see strong home sales activity throughout the county - continuing a trend seen throughout the year. After getting off to a tremendous start in 2015, the real estate market has cooled quite a bit in many parts of Delaware County PA, but total sales still remain well above last year at this time.As of September 1, there have been 4,115 settled home sales in the county. In addition there are 3,184 properties currently on the market ranging in price from less than $20,000 to over $19,000,000. and 853 properties are currently pending.This is better across the board from this date in 2014. Fledgling In The Vegetable Garden Yesterday I noticed an adult Grackle hanging around the bird feeder in our yard.  Grackles generally do not feed at my feeder, so this got my attention. This adult black iridescent bird with yellow eyes was staying around and calling here and there.  Then I noticed a black bird on the ground amongst the growing vegetables in my garden.  So this is why the Grackle was around...its baby had taken flight not too long ago and was now a fledgling: not quite able to fly and vulnerable to harm on the ground.   This adult Grackle was calling out, talking to its baby, guiding it with its calls, telling it to stay put or to move for cover under vegetation in the garden.  I also noticed mom/dad flew away in search for food.  Returning a short while later and again... 06/07/2015

Happy Earth Day 2015Today is Earth Day and it is windy and raining off and on as I write here in SE PA. The Nobscussett Tribe The First To Feed The Mayflower Pilgrims A few years ago we vacationed in Cape Cod in December and as with all of our vacations we traveled around the area and took in the sights in order to appreciate the area more.  On one of these outings we came upon a sign for the "Burial Grounds Of The Nosbscussett Tribe Of Indians" in the town of Dennis.  We stopped and I ventured on the overgrown path off the road to the burial ground.  This sacred ground was overlooking a body of water and appeared to be maintained and had recent visits from people leaving offerings of sea shells and garlands for the Christmas season.
