Matt Cooper is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable real estate agents in the nation. Matt is a designated REALTOR member of the Ventura County Coastal Association of REALTORS, the National Association of REALTORS and a member of the California Association of REALTORS...BLAH, BLAH, BLAH..What does all that really mean? It means I've studied a lot and passed a bunch of important tests, but, let's face it, what it really means is I write each of those associations a big fat check every year so that I can remain in their club.
Don't get me wrong, it's very important to be a designated REALTOR® and it's best to work with a REALTOR® as opposed to an agent who just barely passed the state exam after his or her 4th try (yes, I only took the test once) and is going to guide you and serve you in perhaps the biggest financial transaction of your life. You definitely want to work with an experienced REALTOR®. Myself and my team (Team Cooper) are on the street seven days a week.
The first half of my post college life was spent in Radio. More than 17 years in the industry has provided me the ability to market your property in the most creative ways. One of which is my Real Estate Radio Show!
I was the host of "Open House" a weekly Real Estate talk show heard every Sunday, 4-5pm, on News-Talk 1520 KVTA.
I like to be at the forefront of technology and use it to better serve my clients. Honestly, I'm a techno/gadget geek. I'm one convention away from wearing a pocket protector.
Outside of Real Estate, I am an active member of my community. I helped start the Santa Paula Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Over the 5-years I was involved with the Santa Paula Relay For Life we earned more than $200,000. In 2004 and 2005 I served as Chair of the event. I, myself, am a 24+ year cancer survivor (Rhabdomyosarcoma - say that three times fast!). Uh oh, here comes the sappy stuff...I was given 6 months to 1 year to live. That was back in 1985. I think they were a tad bit off to say the least. I now live with a permanent colostomy (the "Cooper Side-Mount Pooper") and a urinary diversion. 1985 was a long time ago, but it's something that I live with on a daily basis. I can also be found packing "to go" boxes for Santa Paula's "Many Meals" every Wednesday afternoon at the Church @ 121 N. Davis in Santa Paula. We don't ask, don't qualify our guests, we just serve those in need of a good, nutritious meal. In these tough times we serve roughly 600 guests each Wednesday.
I like to think of myself as not only a Survivor, but also as a Fighter. I faced a more than capable opponent (cancer) and I won. I don't allow failure into my life. I have to surround myself with positive people at CENTURY 21 Buena Vista. We have a truly great Family/Team that is second to none. We're all friends in and out of the office.
I look forward to meeting you and serving you.
