Not in California.
There's a tax on nearly everything.

Oregon has a sales tax holiday from January 1 to December 31 every year. Vancouver (WA) residents frequently cross the Columbia River into Portland (OR) to take advantage of this benefit.

Yes NM does. I need to blog about it as it's coming up.
We don't have taxes on food and certain other items anytime.

We do not....and we not only have state sales taxes...some counties do as well to pay for sports facilities which in turn attract considerable dollars
spent in our area.

Here's a list of state tax holidays for this year.

Good morning Praful. Surprisingly Connecticut does, as this state has a tax for just about everything.

We don't do this. It would be a nice thing to have, though.

Everyday is a holiday from Sales Tax in Alberta, as we have zero sales tax here....
Although we still have to pay 5% GST (goods & services tax) I am confident that IF we had a sales tax holiday it would be well recieved

Yes, Texas does. It is going on this weekend starting today. What that means is, don't go to the mall today - or do any shopping this weekend unless you want to be in crowds like Christmas!

Praful - Not that I am aware of, and I think I would be aware of it if our state had one.

We have it here in Texas. It's actually this weekend. There is usually about an $8 savings for every $100 spent on back to school items.

Connecticut does, for back-to-school items in August, but up to a certain amount in value.

Yes we do have the "tax holiday" in Florida. Of course there are certain limitations and unless I were to buy a computer(for personal use) or some other eligible bigger ticket item, I don't really see the benefit.

We have a 10 day tax holiday this year. It began in 1997 and has varied in length from 3 days to 10 during that time. Referred to as the "Back to School Sales Tax Holiday" the expected $70,000,000 savings begins tomorrow.

In Canada, sales tax holidays do not apply to GST, HST and QST. I don't recall seeing sales tax holidays for the three provinces with PST but I have not tracked the PST in those provinces for sales tax holidays.
