No, it's a big scam.  All the green power gen has non-green side effects.  For solar panels, the chemicals used in production have toxic waste.  Windmills need heavy duty oil (and lots of it) to grease the motors.  Dams, we all know that problem.  No such thing as 100% green.

Yes I do.  Tesla batteries may have issues, but it has to start somewhere, with the expectation that improvements will come with time.  If we don't make the move to green energy because it's not perfect in the beginning, we will never get away from dirtier means of power.  

Solar panels are a great example of how they have evolved to become more efficient and better looking.  With time they will be integrated into the roof so they are unnoticeable.  

Gotta start somewhere.

It helps, but birth control would help it more. Too many resource suckers and waste producers on this planet already. We should have to prove we made/make the world a better place before we procreate.

We often do not get all the information necessary to make a good decision. And, as a result, we often do not!

There is a lot more than meets the eye on many of these topics. Just like cloth diapers (which I used) save the landfills of diapers but use A LOT of extra water and washings (a commodity in some drought areas).-Kasey

If you want to compare electric cars to gasoline cars, you can't include production of one without also including production of the other - that's basic 4th grade science. If calculating the carbon footprint of an energy source includes production, then electric cars win hands down.

Green energy benefits are exaggerated.

The verdict is out and though I think it is responsible citizenship to be conservative and protect the environment, I also think there is lots of hype to scare people into conformity.

I certainly don't enough about all the issues to provide a good answer. I suspect you can find support for both sides of the debate depending on what data you consider. I the overall net effect a positiv? Not sure it is.

I just want to see solutions like this.

  "Green" is a hoax, just like climate change/global warming.   Tesla, Algore, and other profiteers are laughing all the way to the bank.

The "green" industry is a money maker for certain people. But it is full of hypocrisy. Remember Al Gore? What are the carbon footprints of his McMansion and his private jet? The masses buy the green ideas and what they are selling, but don't really investigate the background of the industry. There was an environmentalist in Oregon who really limited logging in our forests - but when they investigated him they found he lived in a large log home - with enough wood to build 9 traditional homes.  The hypocrisy.

If we didn't have global warming the earth would still be in the ice age and we wouldn't be on Activerain right now.

I don't think there is an easy answer to this question.

I suppose we should ask the same question of the coal industry, the oil industry, etc.

It makes sense in the long haul.  A journey of a thousand miles sterts with a single step.

There are a lot of things claiming to be green that are questionable...buying a new appliance when the current one is Woking fine but the new one will save 2 dollars a month. But the carbon footprint for the old he not been used up yet

Yes, it is a step in the right direction. Nothing ever started perfect. That comes throught trial, error and time.  We still subsidize fossil fuels...oil, gas and coal. Does that make sense? One study does not define an industry or movement. That would be like saying one realtor defines us all.

No, it's not saving the planet.  It's lining the pockets of people who push that agenda.

There is much propaganda on all sides. Needs more research. One thing is certain - we need some change.

I'm skeptical and I'll leave it at that. (For example, low flush toilets... people just flush extra times... seems silly.)

I'm becoming more and more convinced that it's more of a money-maker than actually saving the planet - especially after reading about the Tesla issues.
