I do intake 8 to 4 Monday through Friday (where my office phone is on and I receive and discuss possible business with a new prospect). Whether or not I'm working outside of those hours depends on what I'm working on. I could work 10 hours a week or 80, it just depends on the project. When I did just residential, it was a different thing--you have to be much more available, especially on weekends. Commercial clients don't as a rule approach me needing to work on a weekend. Again, unless there's an urgent need.

Every day of the week I work from 5:30am-7:30am doing email, MLS review/search, follow-ups that can be done via email, social media, paperwork. From 7:30-9 (ish), I do exercise, preparation for the day, and then the rest of the day depends. Yesterday I had a 9am appointment, and then showed houses all over the county from 11:30-5:15. Came home, made dinner, did more work. Today I have no formal appointments (gasp) so we'll see how the day goes!

And I do some sort of work every day, although I have been trying to keep Sundays free of appointments.

No. More.

No. I work most weekends.

Always work smarter.  Workflow at times demands working more hours. I personally do not have an issue with that. I work with the ebb and flow of my business.

I start my day working from home, may go to the office at about 10:00-10:30 and stay until I finish what I am working on.  If I have appointments, I am driving around showing properties.  I only work on the weekends if I have a client that wants to view property and most of the day, I am on the phone answering questions.

No I don't only work weekdays 9-5.  I usually work Saturdays, sometimes Sundays.  That's when my buyers are available and when I host open houses.  I usually take off during the week.  Beaches, banks, and stores are less crowded then, anyway.

I do stop answering the phone by 8 pm.

Staying organized helps cut back on the hours worked, however.

9-7 every day and as needed outside of that window, although I do try to take as much of Sunday off as I can, if I'm not working with a client or doing an open house.  I also take some time off in the middle of the day each day to walk the dog, hit the gym, etc.

Not tied to that tight a schedule and really always thinking, planning, working. When you head in a certain direction to show, pull out the list of what else to do while in that area. Making less trips, doing more on the travel makes more time. And qualifying means should you make the trip at all. Ask questions, see red flags, adjust your sales accordingly.

As with a regular job, there are hours to work and time for breaks.

I have a daily, weekly, and monthly calendar and know most times in advance of the Family time that needs to be taken off.

Each day has scheduled time off and if has to be used for a client will try to reschedule time off.

Like others, the phone is off during meals and at 8 pm every day!

Frankly, I do not know any entrepeneur who works 9-5. My first job decades ago was in a factory and I worked from 7 to 3 and that was work. I have been a Broker selling real estate in Santa Fe NM for 15 years and I love what I do and do not consider it work. I set boundaries for my time, use technology to be more efficient and live my life with family first.  In my experience, it is not the hours, it is what you chose to do with them, whether you follow a business plan, chose your clients, stay postive and avoid drama. Life is to short. Know why you are in the business. The answer will come from your why.
