that's the beauty of having a team of two..... one covers for the other because EVERY ONE OF THEIR CLIENTS KNOW EACH OF THEM....both go on listing presentations.... and both go on the first few showings if the client is buying....  familiarity by the client is very important....they never feel abandoned....

When I went on my extended vacations every year there was very little I couldn't take care of on the road.  That said, though, tech or no tech there are things that need to be done in-person so you must have at least one or two reliable back-ups available.

All of my assistants are licensed and at some point during the transaction, one of them has accompanied me to an inspection or client meeting. They also see my assistants at our charity events or client gatherings. So, my clients know them and we don't skip a beat when I'm away.

Sometimes you can't plan times you are away and this also works for Closings. I would never allow a client to go to Closing without someone to accompany them who knows all of the ins-and-outs of THEIR home sale or purchase - NEVER!

 

As well, I'm always available by phone unless I'm on a flight.

No and no. I've sold property and done contracts from half-way round the world. Two years ago, while in Russia, I put two listings into contract worth over $1 million and closed a seller sale as well. Phones, text, and email work marvelously these days.

And I've never had another agent "take care" of my business... don't trust anyone to take care of my clients the way I do. If I'm going to be away, I notify my clients very early on and we plan on that absence.

As for a team... I disbanded a team in 2010.

Even tech will not allow you to virtually show property while you are gone.  You will need a backup to open the lockbox and door at a minimum.
