Happy St. Patrick's Day From Sedona!RecapIn the 15 years, I have lived in Sedona, we have never attended a St. Patrick's Day Parade.  For many of those years, we were traveling.  So, we thought this was the perfect time to support the community and see what it was all about.  I would have posted this yesterday but yet again, we were traveling! No disappointment here!  Even though a whole lot of people showed up. It was easy parking and plenty of space to find a spot to enjoy the parade.  It lasted about 45 minutes.  Just about every participating float and venue were handing out candy, rulers, or pencils to the kids.  Next time I need to bring a bag for Tristan! The mayor and city council were out walking the parade with lots of goodies for the little ones.  Besides all the Fire and Poli...

Daffodils "O'Plenty" In The Cottages At CoffeepotNarcissus (Daffodil) is the birth flower of those who are born in March.  The image above is the monument light at the head of my driveway. A few years ago, I noticed sprouts coming up in late February or early March.I talked with our landscaper for the Cottages and asked him about them.  Come to find out, he had been planting these bulbs sporadically all over the community.  What a wonderful surprise! Everywhere you walk or drive in our little community of 34 homes, you will see daffodils this time of year.  Even though it is 25º as I write this, you know that spring is here!  It is hitting you right in the face.  What is really nice to see is how these seem to multiply every year as well. Once they are planted, you don't need to do anyt...

February 2022 Challenge: "What's Your Story?" Post 2 Hosted by: Carol Williams  & Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker Caffeine and Hard Rock! The Life of A SalespersonPreFaceJack Moran - My DadAs I look back to the person who influenced me the most when it came to working as well as ethical behavior,  I would have to point to my dad.  Other than babysitting jobs for neighbors, I was not allowed to have a job until I graduated high school.  As the oldest of 5 children, I could have easily been the designated babysitter for my own family.  My mother would not allow that to happen. She did not want me to be stuck watching my siblings. My dad was a natural salesman. AS mentioned in my first post, he studied law and met my mother.  They got married and plans for a law career changed.  ...

February 2022 Challenge: "What's Your Story?" Post 1 Hosted by: Carol Williams  & Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker Preface"There are always flowers for those who want to see them" - Henri Matisse I love to spend time in my garden. It is a form of meditation for me.  When I see flowers I am always drawn to them to get a whiff of the sweet fragrance.  I will stop and smell them before I move on.  Each fragrance triggers a memory and enjoying the scent of flowers reminds me of all the happy memories that life brings to each and every one of us.  At this stage of my life, I have many happy memories to be thankful for. Some of those memories have been triggered by the pleasant aroma of flowers. In my journey through my roadmap of time, I will be sharing how I got to where I am today...

Rain - Snow - Wind Mother Nature Is Speaking To Sedona! Yesterday was one of the few days since we moved to Sedona that was below freezing most of the daytime hours.  Why? We kept getting waves of snow! Right after midnight, the morning hours were at 41º but that steadily went down to below freezing temps.  This kept the snow light and fluffy until this morning.  As you can see the temp was 20.9º right at dawn.  That increased to over 40º and the snow started to melt and evaporate. The only snow left right now is in the shade.  My neighbor has a rain chain and when it snows and the rain freezes it makes for a spectacular ice formation!Lastly - here is a video that shows the snow coming down. You can see the snow swirling around in the video. The wind was up and it was swirling the snow ...

Sedona AZ Weather – Did Sedona Get Snow? – 2021 Recap – January 2022 Update –Sheri Sperry February 8, 2022Sedona Weather 2021 Recap   283 Days of Sunshine in 2021All the stats come from the weather station in Soldiers Pass at the Cottages At Coffeepot. We didn't quite make 300 days of sunshine in 2021.  Mostly because of storms that brought much-needed rain and snow.  We had a total of 15.75 inches of snow in 2021.  That snow came on a couple of days in January and in March.  Unlike other cold climate areas, any snow evaporates quickly. We also had 20.41 inches of rain.  2021 ranked as the 5th highest rain total since keeping records starting in 2011. It was a good year!  This put a huge dent in the drought picture for Sedona and Arizona. It should be noted that Sedona sits below a huge ...

The Digital RevolutionWe have been given a wonderful opportunity to look back through the years at the digital revolution through the eyes of many of our ActiveRain Partners as to the very beginnings of the tech explosion.  Living History First HandI thoroughly enjoyed reading so many blogs about this because I also experienced it. I started working as a teenager in the late 1960s and by 1972, I was looking for my first residence.  My future husband and I decided on buying a townhome. How did we find it?  We went driving in the area we wanted to live.New Developments Were Everywhere In California, there were new developments popping up everywhere. You would open the Sunday LA Times paper and see the ads for new home developments and drive and see it. We upgraded homes 4 times in the Inl...

The Human Spirit Out of Difficulties Grow Miracles... Jean de La Bruyére Some may recall the posts I wrote for the December Challenge and one other during December about  About a Post Card from the 1969 and "The Human Spirit".  These posts bring to a head what has happened in the last three weeks. They all tie together and why I have been missing from ActiveRain. It all started two days before Christmas. I wrote about the "Holiday Miracle".  My sellers, who are also my buyers were in a contingent contract.  I got the call on December 23rd from the agent owner of the home my clients were going to buy and told me that the deal was off if we could not close by Dec. 30th.  Long story short,  we couldn't close until January 2022.  So now my clients who were selling their home would be "homel...

When Will Sedona See Temperatures Dip Below Freezing? (Above) - December 1st, 2021- Leaves Are Falling  Watching the Japanese Maple helps give us some understanding of previous peak color seasons and why the peak may vary each year.  In the last two years,  our peak color on the Japanese Maple has gone well into December.  It really makes for a wonderful Thanksgiving because the color is pretty vivid.  This year, it made it through Thanksgiving but that weekend we got some unusual wind and the tree lost a lot of leaves. Within 3 days, leaves were falling on their own. This blog post explains why the leaves can fall at different times during Autumn or Winter.   One of my favorite things ... One of my favorite things to watch on my Japanese Maple is that the filtered sunlight can make a r...
