  I have received many requests for a map of Fort Carson’s Gates! First I tried to find a good map on the internet myself, just to find out: There really isn’t any that has more than just a couple – or one, that was legible. However, not ALL gates are listed! While gate numbers range from 1 to 20, so you’d think there would be 20, right? Well, I have found only 9, of which only 7 are on this map {Gates 6 and 7 are far south off 115 and will be added to the next version} The map is stylized and nothing fancy – but it will give you a good idea where the gates are located.   A new access onto Fort Carson Gate 19 is scheduled to open November 14th, 2012.  The gate is located south of gate 20, right off I-25 exit 128. This new access onto Fort Carson in the most southern end of Fountain Valley will give Fort Carson its seventh gate (Gate 5 south west-with quick access to Evans Hospital, Gate 1 -main gate, Gate 3 Norad Road access, Gate 3 Cheyenne Meadows access, Gate 4 B Street, gate 20 off exit 132). This week the Army is celebrating it's 236th Birthday.   Soldiers received a great birthday gift from the upper echelons - we are now allowed to wear the patrol caps in garrison for the first time in 10 years.    That was a DREAM come true gift.   Of course, there are some exceptions...so if you are in the Army don't don't throw your beret away.  You still need it.       The black berets looked great on SOME people.  Unfortunately, I was not one of those people.  They were hard to shape.  They offered no protection from the sun.  They were hard to put on.  They were hard to shape.   So collectively,  we were very, very, very, very happy when told that we could start wearing the patrol caps in garrison.   The berets will still be worn with the dress uniforms.  That is fine.         This ...

The quick answer is yes. Found 15 nice ones under $1000 this AM. Soldiers are coming in to the housing office and are a little happier when they leave because they have houses to go preview. Sticker shock is still getting them though. I think its time to raise the BAH again. Another $100 to $150 would help the soldiers and airmen in this town a lot.

Today I am working at the Housing office on Fort Carson.  I volunteer to work there because it allows me to serve the military community without looking for a return and I get to assist incoming soldiers looking for a place to live.  There are the occasional home buyers that come through but most (90%) of the soldiers...
