Aspetuck Animal Hosptial, New Preston, CT, a trip to the vet! Friday I had to take my beloved best friend Duncan to see the vet. I knew he was suffering from pancreatitis, we have been down this road before. Since his first acute attack, I have managed to keep him pretty healthy with good food and exercise. If he gets a flare up, I cook his food, white rice and boiled meat usually does the trick. He almost died the first time, it was horrible. So, the other morning I just knew this was "trip to the vet time". His stomach was making those tell tale noises, he was lethargic, and I just "knew" he needed more than boiled meat and white rice. I was right. By the time I got there (in one hour) they had his records from the vet who had seen him for his first attack. Dr. Trish Grinnell saw Dunc...

The quarter-mile long street will be closed permanently at its intersection with Route 67, however, once the Grove/67 project is completed. Skies over New Milford, CT. I was out with my camera this morning at sunrise, and made it home just in time to catch the "corn moon" tonight. What a beautiful way to start and end the day! I didn't have time to locate the tripod for the moon shot, so it may not be as clear as I would like it to be, but you get the "picture"! I hope you enjoy them. A sunrise reflection on the silo, sunrise over the corn field, sunrise over the hay field, and lastly, the corn moon rises over the barn. These were the skies over New Milford, CT today!

The home buying series, assemble a winning team in New Milford, CT - Part 5 - The Realtor® In the series this far we have learned about putting together a winning team for your home purchase. The professional lender, the inspectors, the real estate attorney, and this series we will look at finding a Realtor®.  One of the first things you need to know is that not all real estate sales people are Realtors®. The following explanation is taken from the National Association of Realtors®,  "A real estate agent is a Realtor® when he or she becomes a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, The Voice for Real Estate®, the world's largest professional association. The term "REALTOR®" is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of...

Bridle Road, New Milford, CT - Merryall Ridge Gate Set in the scenic Merryall section of New Milford, CT, Bridle Road, Merryall Ridge Gate, is a beautiful, well established subdivision. Bridle Road is a culdesac, a wide tree lined street with homes set gracefully on generous sized lots. Many of the homes reflect the style of the owner, they are not of the cookie cutter variety. I have written about Merryall before, a wonderful section of New Milford, the homes are set amid forest and farmland. Very scenic, very New England countryside, very beautiful! Currently on Bridle Road there are 2 homes for sale. The first is a Gambrel Colonial listed by Prudential Adams & Associates for $379,900.  A wonderful 3 bedroom home, built in 1986 with  2,266 square feet of finished living space, 2.5 bat...

Candlewood Lake, Connecticut - Realtors® enjoying an afternoon at Candlewood Lake! For Realtors® in New Milford, CT, Thursday is the day we look at homes for sale. There are 2 ways we do this, first is called Caravan, next is a Broker Open House. At Caravan we meet at the train station at 9:00 am, do a bit of socializing with each other, networking, talk about our listings, jump into cars and look at homes as a group. Broker Open Houses are listed on the MLS for us, we decide what homes we want to see and go. Many times there is food for us at Broker Open Houses, and anyone who knows real estate agents, they know if you serve food, we will come. Yesterday 3 of the homes on Caravan were also on the Broker Open House Tour. They all were on Candlewood Lake in New Milford, CT, each had a sl...

The home buying series, assemble a winning team in New Milford, CT, The Real Estate Attorney (Part 4) We have discussed the professional lender, the home and septic inspectors, and now, another key player in our winning real estate team is the real estate attorney. Connecticut is what is referred to as an "attorney state", we use attorneys for real estate closings. They prepare the contracts, either do a title search themselves or order one, get title insurance for you, prepare all the documents for closing, and finally close the deal. A good attorney will help to move the deal along. When I sit with my clients to write up an offer I ask them who they are going to use for an attorney. I have a list of attorneys that I refer to my clients, people I know will get the job done, who communi...

Remember, this is the single largest purchase you will make in your lifetime, and having a thorough inspection of your home is crucial to your peace of mind and happiness in the home. Ask your Realtor® for the names of inspectors that have good reputations, that will do what you need done, which is: Find issues with the home Explain how to deal with these issues Teach you about owning the home Make sure the home is safe There are often more than o...

Meadowbrook Estates in New Milford CT, a sought after neighborhood along the border with Bridgewater, CT.  As you enter Meadowbrook Estates through either Revere Road or Standish Road you can't help but notice the wide streets with beautiful homes on well established properties. Meadowbrook Estates is not your "cookie cutter" type subdivision, the homes have their own style and character and are well set back from the road. Consider the commute. From Meadowbrook Estates the commute to Danbury or Interstate 84 is easy, avoid Route 7 traffic and head south on Route 133 through Bridgewater, or Route 67 to Southbury. Village Fair Days 2009 in New Milford CT has finished, it was a great time! The weather cooperated, (almost), Friday nights thunderstorm and downpour held off until about 45 minutes before the end of the activities. Otherwise, great weather, great food, great people, great music, great fun! The village green was packed with people enjoying themselves, I saw clients, friends and fellow Realtors®. I even got some mug shots of some unwilling realtors!  The winner of the New Milford Idol 2009 contest is... Jeannette Dubray! Congratulations Jeannette, awesome job! I am anxiously awaiting her performance on Youtube!  Check out the Village Fair Days webcam, this is pretty cute! I believe a good time was had by all. And thank you to all the people who worked so hard to make this a wonderful eve...
