I recently submitted an offer on a short sale townhome in this popular subdivision of Greggs Landing in Vernon Hills. The offer was on behalf of some investor clients of mine who are taking advantage of the low market prices of homes as an investment for the future. About 2 weeks into the offer we finally got the information we needed in relation to the ability to rent the unit. It transpired that the unit cannot be rented in the first 12 months after closing unless it was to a blood relative. Add to that the requirement now that only 10% of the units an be rented out, our contract was withdrawn. As the number of Illinois residents renting homes dramatically increases, new survey released today by Allstate finds most Illinois renters are inadequately prepared to protect homes and belongings. Although homeowners coverage is required as a part of most mortgages, the approximate 1.2 million Illinois residents who rent their homes face no such insurance requirement. In a previous  real Vernon Hills real estate  post, I wrote about the top 10 questions, my real estate clients ask me when relocating to Vernon Hills.   I have had great feedback with this blog( I have reprinted it below) since it is a wonderful resource if you are thinking of moving to Vernon Hills.
