Owned by Jim Devereaux, the Oakwood Farm Christmas Barn has been a country tradition for many decades.  The barn that houses the store is over 150 years old.  If you read their history, you'll see that Oakwood Farm had started as a chicken farm, then evolved into selling Christmas trees, and finally came into its own as a top source for holiday decorations. Looking for something fun to do in Central Mass on Labor Day weekend?  Come and check out the 121st annual Spencer Fair in Spencer, MA.  The Spencer Fairis Central Massachusetts' largest fair and takes place September 4th - 7th.  General admission is $10/person and reduced to $7 if you purchase your tickets in advance.  Children under 7 are Free and ages 7-12 are $6 along with seniors.  You can purchase a weekend pass for $25 and parking is free!  Come enjoy the festivities such as a demolition derby, karaoke contests, rides and agricultural exhibits.  The Spencer Fair is one of the state's oldest agricultural fairs.  Come and spend some time with us this weekend for a truly enjoyable experience for all ages.  09/01/2009

This is an unofficial name for this great spot I take my kids to run wild.  I've never known it to have a name and can't find a website for it, but it is located near the Spencer Fairgrounds, and more specifically, on the corner of Meadow Road and Smithville Road very close to Routes 9 and 31.  If the weather is good, this the place to be with young children, perfect for ages 2-10.  The playground is separated into two parts, one area built for bigger kids with large swings, dinosaurs you can climb on and a large fort with slides and the other half is built for smaller children featuring baby swings, little bouncy rides and a small fort with a smaller slide.  There are picnic tables around the playground and a good balance of sun and shade.  The entire playground is fenced in so you don... 08/31/2009
