I want to go through the first steps of the home buying process and what the Livonia real estate market is like.  When you put in an offer it usually takes about 45 days to get a home inspection and the mortgage done in the Livonia real estate market.   So if your lease ends on June 15 the ideal time to find a house would be April 15 - May 1.  That would give you about 60 days and you would not have any overlap where you would have to pay rent and a mortgage payment.  In the Livonia real estate market the most we could probably get the seller to do is  about a sixty day closing.   Also asking for a longer closing is a negative in many cases especially if there are multiple bids.  The seller usually wants to close sooner.  So then the ideal time to find a house would be April 1 - May fir... 01/17/2013

So what is Livonia like?  Livonia is what I would call an average American hometown.  Is it the most prestigious city in the area where the rich and wealthy live? No it does not have the prestige of Northville, West Bloomfield, Grosse Point, or Birmingham.  It is just a average city with good people living in it.   We have doctors, dentists, business owners, white and blue collar workers.  I lived in the city for 22 years.  It was a good city to raise a family in whether you had kids or not. I am meeting with one of my son's friend who is a first time home buyer and I want to go over the home buying process with him and his wife.  Buying your first home can be confusing and scary.  It confuses and frustrates buyers who have bought homes before.
