It's Time To Spring Ahead Can you believe it's here already, that time of year when we turn the clocks ahead and jump one hour closer to Spring? Well we are happy about getting closer to Spring, but not about losing on full hour of sleep!  How do we get ahead and lose all at once like that?Daylight Saving Time, arrives tonight.  There are benefits to the extra hour of 'awake' time, more time to cross things off the to do list, some will now be able to get in a round of golf before work, have more Active Rain time, an extra hour of exercise time, ok, maybe not that much, but there is so much we can achieve with an extra hour. What will you do? Whatever it is, enjoy and don't forget to set the clocks ahead tonight to avoid confusion tomorrow! Remember, if you snooze you lose. Oh that's ri...

Moose Monday - Is This All There Is To Eat   Hello Active Rain Moose Lovers, Another Moose Monday is upon us.  We didn't want to let Gerry from Red Lodge Montana down, so we took a trip to the Toronto Zoo yesterday in search of Bullwinkle a Moose.  Now you have to know that the Moose headquarters is the farthest from the entrance of the zoo.  At the bottom of a huge hill that was tough even going down, yes we were puffing going back of the hill. So anyway, here we are trying to get a couple of shots of the Moose , the Blackberry dingalings and would you believe it, it's Gerry making a comment on one of our blogs.  Is that some kind of psycho communication or what.  We had always heard if someone pops into your mind... call them or do a blog to their group Moose Mondays. We got a picture...

Hello Active Rain Isn't it funny how a little rivalry gets everybody going.  It's just a hockey game.  Of course we have to cheer for Canada, we also have to thank the United States team for waking up our team. Since their loss to the US, Canada went on to beat the Germans and Russia. We have our fingers crossed that Canada and the US will make to the final game on Sunday for the Gold Medal.  That will be a game to see... North America can't lose. TEAM CUNNINGHAM is cheering for TEAM CANADA

MUST READ" Your Life Could Depend On It!   Almost everyone here on Active Rain, Realtors, Home Inspectors, Stagers, Mortgage Brokers, as part of their day to day business go into people's houses.  We never know what to expect or what we will find.  A couple of days ago there was an article in the Toronto Sun (one of Toronto's daily newspapers), about the Police attending to a noise complaint.  On speaking with the complainant they noticed an aquarium with a snake it.  This turned out to be not just any old snake. The snake was an African Gaboon viper, a little over three feet long.  This little guy is one of the most deadly snakes in Africa.  It can grow up to 7 feet long and weigh up to 18 pounds.  Rodney Southern wrote a great article about this snake and is worth the few minutes it t...

Hello Active Rainers Have you thought of an idea that you thought would be great, only to be discouraged by someone saying "You Can't Do That".  Have a look at these short videos.  A high school's girl basketball team challenged their Coach to what seemed an impossible task.  Everybody said it couldn't be done.  The Coach being a good sport took on the challenge... the rest is history. First, watch the ABC version...       Now, as videoed at the school...       Moral of the story:  Don't let anyone tell you "It Can't Be Done", take your ideas and dreams and... "Go For It"

Just a walk in the park, well if it is January and you are in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, at none other the quaint downtown Gage Park, maybe a 'skate in the park' would be more in order. Who could resist on a sun-filled 34F degree day, not to tie on the old blades and take a slide around the temperature controlled rink that skirts the city's most popular Gazebo?  You feel like you have taken a step into a Dicken's story with the atmosphere that is created here by the historic homes surrounding it including Brampton's beloved resident, our former Premier of Canada, the Honourable William G. Davis.  Gage Park is more than a skating rink though, it hosts a children's playground designed for ages 2 to 5 year olds, it's a lunch time meeting spot and in the summer many wedding vows have been s...
