You belong in Bristol!  Bristol Motor Speedway is a blast for the kids (and adults) when the track cools down for the winter.  November 18th through January 16th the Ice rink opens up for it's 9th season at the speedway.  This rink has proved to be the Speedway's most popular off track event.  Over 30,000 skaters each year!  It's a great place to plan a party or just chill after work while getting a little exercise. Chill Hill is open this year for its second season.  It's a 300 foot snowless slide featuring 2 side by side slides.  Riders rocket to the bottom in inflated tubes.   Okay, what could be more fun then this?  Ha ha, go put your hat and mittens on and come to BRISTOL BABY!   12/07/2010

We had our semi-annual Breast Cancer Painting fundraiser today at Blowfish Emporium, In Bristol, Tennessee. We has 12 women today spend several hours celebrating women and painting for a cause.  That cause being Breast Cancer. SELLabrate Real Estate Team in Johnson City, Tennessee has been supporting the Susan G. Komen foundation as their charity for the past 5 years.  We have raised over $25,000.00 and keep on raising.  Blowfish Emporium in Bristol, Tennessee has been very supportive and hosts are Painting clinics twice a year.  It's a lot of fun and for a great cause. 11/14/2010

There is the most eclectic shop in downtown Bristol TN/VA.  It is called The Blowfish Emporium and it has a varity of art and art classes as well.  Bristol Tennesse and Bristol Virginia share State street. It's really quite unique.  As you are facing the famous State Street sign, Bristol Virginia is on the left and Bristol, Tennessee is on the right. Blowfish emporium sits on the Bristol, Virginia side.  Blowfish offers are classes throughout the week and an open painting class every Tuesday and Thursday.  You can have a private party and also have lunch catered in.  I am hosting a fundraiser for Susan G. BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY may be "the World's Fasted Half-Mile!", but traffic in even in Johnson City and nearby cities during the race weeks may not be as fast as locals would like.  So many people come to the Tri-Cities area for the NASCAR races in Bristol that this isn't the best weekend to come house-hunting in the Bristol area, and hotels are hard to book even farther west than Johnson City.    Before we moved to Johnson City, we happened to schedule a house-scouting trip on a race weekend and arrived assuming no problem with lodging.   We ended up having to  inviting ourselves to stay with friends here.   This is an income-producing opportunity for a lot of folks who rent their homes for astronomical figures during race weeks.   Some schedule their own vacations to coincide with the ... 08/16/2010

Sorry for the delay in writing this.  I have been unapologetically busy as of late (I'm not complaining, believe me!).  I always make time to stop down and watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup races.  The battle at Bristol 500 was no different.  With rain threatening to overtake the track at anytime, the first short track race of the season brought on some great racing.  Early on, Kurt Busch's blue deuce had a strong showing, as did Jimmie Johnson's #48 and Greg Biffle's #16.  The lead changed hands almost two dozen times throughout the race as well.  Luckily, the rain that was pelting the Bristol area only brought sprinkles twice throughout the race.  This was nothing that the blowers and the hot tires of the drivers under caution couldn't dry out, thank goodness!  Tire wear seemed to be an iss... 03/24/2010

Images Of Time Gone By #5 Bristol Tennessee-Virginia They Don't Make-em Like This Anymore! This is the farm I grew up on....my Dad grew up on....my Grandfather grew up on! This is #5 in a series of Images Of Time Gone By that I try to capture as I travel around our area. This barn is located on a farm in Holston Valley just outside of Bristol and was built in approximately 1909. A barn building crew rolled in back then and were here for only 28 days.....can you imagine how long it would take today! This is even the original tin roof. The barn is 80' X 60' and will hold 10,000 bales of hay along with 15 horses, 40 cows and 100 sheep.
