I have been looking online at apartments for my daughter.  She is moving to Denton, Texas this summer and wants to live in a nice apartment.  I am very excited about this because that is my Alma Mater. I am very happy to help her look for her place (of course! it is what we parents do).  There are a ton of newer apartments since my good ole college days, but while I was browsing online I saw www.vintagepads.com. They are older apartments that renovate the exterior and interior to attract the younger college student.     As you can see from this picture, the mosacic tile is really cool ,as the black countertops !  The outside is really 70's looking, but fresh looking with the new paint and bright doors.  They actually have 70's advertising "A view of our Far Out Pad living room" I thought...

If you are looking for new residential construction in Denton, TX and the DFW Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex area, you've come to the right place.  Click on the link for a list of New Homes in Denton, TX.  Please be advised new construction has slowed significantly in the past couple of years.   There are often very few spec homes built by builders, so often you will need to start the process from the ground up.   Many areas like Addison, Denton, and Plano have very few new residential developments due to space constraints.   Lots of people like to shop for new homes on their own.   My advice is to STOP, call Bruce Lynn, Your Realtor with Keller Williams Realty first at 214-675-6992 and bring me with you on the VERY 1st visit to the builder.   You will save time, money, and often lots an...

DENTON, TX We specialize in locating BARGAIN homes and will fight for our buyers to get the lowest prices possible. Here you will find the lowest priced homes on the market including bank owned homes, foreclosures, HUD homes, REOs, short sales, and more. Many agents just want to work a deal for you (or for them), but I like to be in your corner to get you the absolute lowest price possible. We're always looking out for your best interests when buying a home by recommending not only the lowest cost service providers, but also the ones that offer the best value. Most agents I meet don't like to work foreclosure and short sale properties due to the extra work involved and often at a reduced commission for them. We work to get you the the best properties at the lowest price and want your lo...

As I awoke yesterday morning to a hot cup of coffee and the television, having fallen asleep in front of the TV the night before, to CNN reporting the live rescue of the 33 trapped miners in the SAN JOSÉ MINE, Chile, I was amazed at the support for these miners.  One capsule appearing every 15 minutes or so, it seemed that not only were the miners relieved to be out of that cave 2000 feet below the surface, but the crowd of families, miners, rescue workers and Chile's President were exuberant with joy. Tears of joy everywhere, including drops in my coffee.   Over two months of confinement, the miners and their determination to survive have inspired many people worldwide. My thoughts wondered to real estate and I speculated, in these rough real estate market conditions, how real estate a...

Education, mine in particular, has always been among those things at the top of my List of Zillions for which I'm grateful. I'll admit that it has only been recently that I haven't been pursuing one avenue of formal education or another.  My wife, a retired school counselor, says it was because I am gifted - interested in many subjects and, in the main, not restricted in the natural ability it takes to learn them. I don't agree with her, quite frankly.  I think her reasoning is entirely too serious.  I chalk the whole thing up to my being a Gemini, a Gemini with a curiosity that even today remains impossible to satisfy. Like a child's love for his grandma who makes sure he gets special love and tops it with rewards of candy and ice cream, I love those who have shared their knowledge wit...

Dr. LEON BREEDEN1921 - 2010View Funeral Service Monday, August 16, 2001, almost fifty-one years to the day from when Dr. Leon Breeden was hired by North Texas State College as its professor of jazz music, several hundred gathered at the Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas to celebrate his life.  Dr. Breeden passed away on August 11th just two months shy of his 89th birthday. For the many thousands who Dr. Breeden taught, and the tens of thousands who heard his famous University of North Texas One O'clock Lab Band, as it performed throughout the U.S. and many foreign countries, I asked his close friend and colleague, James Riggs, if he would let me publish the eulogy he delivered. Here are Jim's thoughts: On this day celebrating Leon Breeden's life, I am deeply honored to be the spokes...

Being an Agent has taught me to be more thankful. The work is not easy but it is very rewarding. Saying thankful and being thankful is different. People understand when you are sincere because gratitude comes from the heart. You can see it in someones eyes. You can feel it when it is genuine and you appreciate it when it is real and sincere. Building relationships, knowing how to effectively communicate, listening and achieving results paves the way to success which ultimately leads to gratitude straight from the heart.

I got a call from my mother this morning and she told me the following story that went a little something like this:   *ring, ring* "Hello?" "Hey there, I had something really cool just happened to me and I wanted to share it with you." "Ah, cool, what happened?" "Well, I don't go to Chick Fil A very often, but I drive by and figured, what the heck, I really could use a chicken sandwich." "I remember we used to get their cole slaw all the time." "Yeah.  So, I placed my order and went to pay with my credit card like usual.  But the lady at the counter said, 'oh, it's already been taken care of.'" "Do you have some sort of secret admirer following you around?" "Ha!  I wish!  She informed me that a man had recently gone through the drive thru and paid extra money and told her that the next...

You've probably heard that the $8,000 federal income tax credit for first time home buyers has expired as of April 30, 2010.  Well, if you weren't able to take advantage of that tax credit, there is another tax credit available to first time home buyers in the state of Texas that may be even better! You could potentially get a federal income tax credit through the Texas Mortgage Credit Certificate program of up to $2,000 each and every year that you own and occupy the property you purchase as a first time home buyer (cannot have owned a home in the last 3 years).  If you were to stay in your new home for 10 years, for example, and received the maximum $2,000 tax credit each year, that would be $20,000 in tax credits (federal income tax refunds, or lower tax withholdings each paycheck) f...
