Nathan Gesner - I copy the source code from my website and then paste it into AR as source code as well. Sometimes it does take some tweaking but, I've found that's the best way to do it.
Also, don't forget to 'tell Google' that you've copied the article from your website by posting something like this at the foot of your post on AR:

Debe Maxwell gave you a great answer. You could also just c and p it into Google docs and copy from there, but I would edit a but

What Kenneth J. Jones and Debbie Gartner said. Copy the HTML.
Also, Debe Maxwell has excellent advice.

I agree with Debe Maxwell and her strategy so you don't get penalized for duplicate content by posting in two places.

highlight the entire post...click on "clear formatting" icon on the tool bar..it's to the right of spell check...highlight again, and then determine the size of the font you want....

Do what Debe Maxwell suggests. It is a lot of steps but I will either copy and paste into Notebook which strips all of the code - then into AR and reformat.
You can also just copy and paste into AR and then select all and strip the code on the AR editor ... the format accordingly.

Copy the html. That will take care of most/all the formating. If it's wordpress, go to the "text" section and copy. On here, open the new blog post and then hit <> paste and then say okay.

Nathan Gesner - cut-n-paste may not be the best way to 'transport' your posts from and to ActiveRain. Use the HTML code behind it to make it work.
Call me should you need any help.

Nathan,
Some blogs I write right on AR, others I write on a word document and then paste. I have not had a problem with either style of doing it. I do not paste it from our site, because that does screw up the formatting. A

I cut n paste to Word, then to AR.
You just have to upload photos and video again.

I agree....and it is really annoying. Even if I copy/paste it from MS word, it messes formatting and it takes forever to clean up.

I copy the html and paste into the html. Other times I may paste directly in the blog editor and highlight all the text (TX) and strip the formatting and reformat.

Hi Nathan, I use MS ExpressionWeb4 for authoring, as it is a competent, WYSIWYG HTML editor (AND FREE), and won't create the problems that MS-Word may create with the code. An AR "template" is created with the primary DIV tag; and my website blog template uses a different primary DIV. I then copy and tweak the content inside the main Div to create unique posts; and also make image adjustments. Blog on!

I found a bunch of extraneous <div> tags when I looked at the AR source code (to be fair, they were from months of copy & paste action). Once I got rid of those then my image formatting tags worked.
Aside from images, I've never had formatting issues going from AR to my blog or any other site.

Copy it to notepad to strip out the formatting and past.
Either that or go into your html, copy from their and paste the html in the AR html editor

If you cut and paste the post with the formatting code it tends to work better.

Nathan Gesner Copy the html code from your site source code to AR's source code. It will keep the formatting.

I usually copy and paste into a word doucment.. change all the font by "Control A" to highlight, and tweek anything else required..then "Control C" to copy, then go to my AR blog page and "Control V" to paste it in.

I write all my posts in Word and then copy and paste it to the Rain. Always

I should have been more clear. I'm already cutting/pasting the html source code. It works decent from my Wordpress site but still requires editing. I also have a sales page and it works much better. Even when I cut/paste from AR to my web pages, editing is necessary. It's just a pain and I hoped someone had a fix.

Don't duplicate your same blog and expand on the topic on one blogging channel with links cross pollenating each of your media marketing beehives. Keep writing new, fresh and don't copy and paste.

I use source code if I'm doing anything like that. But I find that when I use source code in AR it does not always work well regardless and formatting issues remain just that--too frequent an issue.

From word press, cutting & pasting works fine, but I see from some of the other answers that copying the html might work better.

sometimes it comes back on its own a few hours later:) without any action on my part....

Create your post, including formatting, in a text editor then copy and paste to your blogs.

I had to switch from Scribefie and went to google docs to cut and paste...
Still having issues...
